Accelerator Pedal with Big Feet

Accelerator Pedal with Big Feet
I'm thinking of getting a RX8, but when I test drove it my foot kept getting caught when trying to accelerate. I wear size 12.5 shoes, has this happened to anyone else?

I have a size 12 EEEE right foot, and I have had no trouble driving the car with combat boots on (this is a manual. I think that the pedals in the automatic might be different). Spend a little more time with the car, and see if you can get used to it. If not then I guess that it isn't the car for you, because that is a very legitimate concern, but I have not had any trouble at all. Of course I also own an old Alfa Romeo spider so maybe I am just used to little pedals. Try it again for an extended drive and see how it goes.

I wear a size 14 shoe and have noticed the same problem. It took me a couple of days to get used to the pedal setup and I was fine after that.
Like Haze said, you just need to get used to the pedal configuration. Take the car out for a few more test drives. You'll get the hang of it.
Good luck!

I wear size 13 in in my dress shoes, one's with a lip aroudn the sole, I have to be careful as i will hit the back side of the adjoining pedal. With tennis shoes on, all goes smoothly.

As a size 13, I've found Chuck Taylor's, the old style Converse, are the best shoes to drive in, thin and light. I can still drive in boots but they are cumbersome. Oh yeah, on a 6 speed too.

Cumbersome is an understatement. The clod hoppers that I wear make it quite a thoughtful process to release the clutch smoothly. It's just that the boots are so heavy, and they restrict my ankle mobility. It's difficult, but I do get used to it.
I used to wear chuck's. Love 'em, but I can walk the soles off of them in six months or less. Of course when they were nine bucks a pair, that really wasn't a problem.

I've got small feet (9), but I tend to wear heavy shoes like Doc Martin's or Timberland.
I usually take my shoes off to drive or I find my clutch foot is too insensitive or I get cought on the back of the brake pedal.
I just can't drive in street shoes. I like the Addidas driving shoes, though.

Jon hasn't had a problem after getting used to the pedal placement (sz 11E).
If my shoes have laces, I just loosen and slip them off. Once I get to work, then I will tie them

I wear a size 13 New Balance for driving. Not much trouble at all, I have hit the back of my shoe against the ground a few times releasing the clutch, but I didn't stall or anything. No problems whatsoever with the accelerator pedal though.
