Advice on RX8 Needed

I purchased my 2004 RX8 in October. It has both standard and automatic capabilities. Over the last 6 months, it has been in the Mazda dealership 4 times! It dies on me when I stop or slow down, then won't start. The dealership said it was a problem they were having with the Rotary Engines. I don't know what to do, get rid of it or just keep taking it in. Any advice? Also, if I choose to get rid of it, what is a good asking price? It is is good condition, besides the problems I mention.

Since it is an 04 I would guess the car hasnt had the lastest flash update and it is stalling. Sounds like it does this a lights so that wouldnt make since. That is my guess. I would keep the model but try to get a new 05-06 lease. Have them reflash it and then it would be safe to keep.

This in not normal behavior for an RX-8, even a 2004 AT. Your choice is to keep working with the dealer or to get rid of it. If you keep it, just make sure you know the exact date it goes out of warranty, and sell it before then (or before 50K miles) if the problem is not resolved.

Sounds like the car's previous owner chose the "get rid of" option.

Check www.kbb.com for resale info.

Not mine. There are various issues with early models but any decent dealer should have fixed these by now.

My advice: Try a different dealership and give them the complete history of the problems and the repairs the other dealership performed. If it is a repairable problem it should be fixed before you try to sell it.
