Advise Needed
To keep a very long story short and too the point my wife has fallen in love with the RX-8. We took it for a test drive and the only car she said she liked equally as well was the Boxster. However with the RX-8 you can still put a load of groceries in the truck and a pair of rug rats in the back seat for relativly less money. I do have a couple of concerns though and I am hoping that I can get some advise for the people that own and drive the 8 on a daily basis.
She would get the automatic trans, and would be her primary driver to work everyday, about 25 highway miles each way.
1. What kind of real fuel milage can she expect? (65 MPH)
2. Is the car drivable in the snow, we live in Wisconsin?
3. How oftern do you need to check the oil?
4. How many miles can you resonably expect to get out of the engine?
5. Any other things that we should be aware of?
Thanks in advance
Steve

1. What kind of real fuel mileage can she expect? (65 MPH) --- 18-20+ Just checked mine yesterday and I don't drive slow and got 18.3mpg. I have an AT
2. Is the car drivable in the snow, we live in Wisconsin?---- So I've heard, just turn DSC off
3. How often do you need to check the oil?----- Every other fill up
4. How many miles can you reasonably expect to get out of the engine?100,000+
5. Any other things that we should be aware of?---- Hit the redline twice a day, this engine needs to rev. More problems happen to people who don't rev the engine than people who don't let it drop below 4000 rpms.
And your insurance will be drastically lower than a Boxster

Why would you want to do that? I live in a place where it snows 65% of the year and I'd say that all you need are some good winter tires and leave the DCS/TCS on and you're good to roll! In fact, its more fun in the snow!!
