NC After a year I found it!!!! The 8 is in the shop

Took me about a year to find a Real rotary mechanic. Guy is 40 minute away from me in Roanoke Rapids. He has been building rotaries for over 15 years. Got great feedback from people over @ rx7club.com

If only I worked closer I would turbo it. Ill get it back in about 1 1/2 weeks.
Also he will install a new clutch, new rx8performance motor mounts, and Ralco/rotary FX pulleys.

Here are some pics of the cars he is working on.
He is working on a hotness 3rotor!!

My 8 in the shop.

I know he has been rebuilding rotaries for 15 years but has he rebuilt any Renesis motors?

Look at the carbon on the Rotas is that much normal? I wonder what the inside of my motor looks like.
Are you getting it ported whilst its apart, it's the perfect opportunity to gain a few ponies.

yeah will get something less than a mild port.

The car is @ my new Rotary mechanic. So its will be well taken care of.

Looks like normal carbon build up. Not sure what gas or even premix my cousin used while he had it for 2 years. Im blaming all this on him lol it was perfect when I sold it to him. When I got it back it had the hot starting issue.

I wish you had a better picture of this one, I know we had a brief conversation about you using AlumaSeal in your thread that you had last November, did you find out which freeze plug/coolant seal that caused your leak and if it did cause any harm to the core?

This was a reman motor from mazda from 2005 or so. The previous owner had it replaced @ 20k I think. when I got the car I started to premix and use 5w30 gtx dino oil. I then sold it to my cousin and he had it for 2 years and down hill it went. When I bought it back from him it was in bad condition with the hot start issue. Motor had close to 100k I think

What do you guys think about the engine? I think for close to 100k it did not look to bad.
