Age group of buyers
Just curious as to the age breakdown on this forum of RX-8 buyers (those who definitely plan to buy one when it comes out). I guess I'm mainly interested in knowing if any old geezers like me are salivating over the 8 like I am (I'm 39).

I'm 26, but waiting for the RX-7. I didn't vote, since I don't plan on getting one. Maybe in 3 years when my 626 will have been paid off for a year. I'd love to go from a Miata and 626 to an RX-8 and RX-7.

24 here, I dunno if I'll get one right when they come out, guess it'll depend on the mark-up. Gotta close on my house next month, then the RX-8 is my next project. Just sold my GTI to make room for a new toy.

I'm 22 and already bought a 2001 Civic last year. I'm gonna wait a couple years before I by the RX8. The Civic was the first new model car I ever bought and even though it's a wonderful car I still wish I would have waited for the 2nd year of it's production for some little bugs to get worked out.

I voted for 20-29 in the poll because that's what I am right now. I will be in the next category up by the time the RX-8 is widely available.
Maybe Mazda is marketing the RX-8 to people with the 30 and up budget, but still feel like they are 20-29, and drive like they are 16-19. I guess that would be me. :D

I'm well into my 40's and I just sold my 1981 RX7 to make room for the RX8. I bought the RX7 brand new but I've gotten to the point where maintaining it was starting to become a pain in the butt. Trying to get it through Emission testing every two years was a nightmare experience.
The RX8 looks to be the answer to my new car search. It has the 4 seats I need (exactly fits my family). At the time I bought the RX7, it exactly fit my family at that time. No need to worry about exceeding the capacity of the RX8 at this point. I expect to keep the RX8 for at least the 21 years I kept the 7.
I want a rotary engine car so badly, I can taste it. None of the dealers in my area are even considering pre-orders.

I am 24, and I am definitely looking to be one of the first people to have it. I have already made sure to make a few friends at my local mazda dealers so that I get information on pre-orders as quickly as possible.

29 next week.
Plan on buying one of the first available, but it greatly depends on the pricing. Through my employer, I qualify for s-plan pricing -- but some cars are not on that list during initial release (the new T-Bird, for example). S-plan works out to be a bit less than dealer invoice, but since we don't have more exact pricing data, I'm not sure how much room there will be between dealer invoice and MSRP.
If the difference isn't too much, I might buy at MSRP, but if I can save a few grand by waiting a few months, then I probably will.
The last three cars we (me&wife) purchased were either at dealer invoice or a hundred bucks above, so I'm reluctant to spend what I might otherwise save. (We bought '97 Jetta and '98 Stratus through auto-by-tel, and the '01 Miata Special Edition at invoice after telling the sales guy that we were going to try auto-by-tel for it. He met the price, but it was a month before the '02s showed up, so he was likely just trying to move the car.)
