I am laughing loudly at the comments of everyone here who has children.

My wife and I are currently attempting, and you're not inspiring me.

I will be 24 in a month. But I agree with the fact that most owners are at least 30+. I think a lot of people my age (or younger) with this car had it given to them.

43 here.

Keep in mind also that a site like this is likely to skew a little younger than the general population of 8 owners; older generations are just a bit less likely to be involved in on-line forums.

"Seasoned" to me means being around during the "golden age" of sports cars when the greats like Stirling Moss, Dan Gurney, Mark Donohue, Graham Hill, et. al. were racing exotic sports cars. It means having driven in various motorsports events over the years in a variety of cars and motorcycles. It means sacrificing time with your family and forgoing certain amenities in order to compete in, or spectate at, important motorsports events for more than a few decades. So that's what it means to me and that's why I like the term.

Got you all Beat - I just turned 60. My son is 30 and I am now a grandfather. Been driving Mazda Rotarys since 79, before most posters were born. I laugh at some of the post that have so little knowledge of the rotary engine.

Not only to appreciate the car, but to appreciate what it takes to get such a car. Now my parents gave me a car also when I was in college, although not something as nice and definitely not as fast as this, but that is the easiest thing, to just get one for free. This does not necessarily mean you will not appreciate the car, as most here do, but it's hard to really grasp the concept of earning $30,000 when you have not even been in the REAL workforce yet. Even for me, last year when I had a job that made $50,000 a year plus a vehicle allowance, I still could not afford an RX-8 and drove old my pickup truck around. I had a wife and child to support. This year it's the same and I drive the same old truck, except I make far less because I had to change industries. I have no idea if I'll ever be able to afford an RX-8, or anything halfway decent ever. Honestly, I don't really want anything else, I'll keep my damn truck till the wheels fall off. Now you can't tell me that the appreciation that I have for the RX-8, expecially if I ever get one, anywhere closely resembles that which comes with freebies. I know this from personal experience. When I was driving that sports car in college, I sure didn't think it would be my last. So I ask you guys, what's your major???

Well, I guess I'm just a stastic! I'm 35. When I was looking, the 8 was a contender against a few other good cars. I'm a full time single parent and while my daughter (8) would like more room in the back she has really come to appreciate "hey, your Dad has a really cool car!" Just heard that yesterday!
Yes, it's a grocery getter, kid hauler, commuter car, but can also be a boat load of fun on the track. Just went yesterday and scared the crap out of coworkers! Now they either think I have a death wish or that the car is a serious performance machine!
Bottom line: from my perspective this is a very versatle car. Really enjoy a day on the track and still pick up my daughter on the way home while looking cool the whole time. How can specific ages enjoy that more than others? I love walking out of work after a stressful day and seeing my 8 waiting for me. It's the coolest thing in the parking lot, and I have the key! I can only imagine the reactions I would have gotten if I could affort a decent car when I was younger. The reaction I got from my sister when I picked her up at the airport is not suitable to be printed here, but was quite descriptive: (fill in the blanks as you see fit) "Oh my God! This is such a p**** wagon!!!!"
I'll wave at anyone in an 8! If you've got it, use it & enjoy it (whatever ~it~ is!)

Im 54 and when the lease was up on my "old man's car," (my daughters' comments) the Malibu, I told my wife I wanted a sports car again. We both had sporty cars (Capri, Mustang) back in the day (pre-kids) and I loved them. Love my 8 now. Glad my girls are grown and have their own cars. Now if I could only get them to move out!

32, Married, and two young ones here. Realize that the members on this forum are just a very small slice of total RX-8 owners. Add that along with the fact that younger people typically have a lot more time to spend on a forum, and you can see why the forum might seem a little "younger".

The car's great, BTW. I strongly recommend it, for reasons that are probably obvious to you already. Good luck.

I'm 26, next B-day is in Feb. I got a WRX after I graduated from College when I was 23, but somewhere between then and now I got tired of riced out hondas trying to race me everyday and the fact that the spoiler on the STi and Evo made me sick to my stomach. I looked at the Mustang, 350Z, GTO, G35 coupe and sedan. I decided that the 8 was the right choice for me, married, no kids, but we want to get a dog (Bulldog) and he would fit in an 8. The Mustang felt cheap inside, ie the dash was not very nice and some of the materials just had a finish that I just didn't like. The other cars except the Mustang were all a lot more expensive than the 8 and after I drove one it just made sense, sure it is not as fast as the others I listed in a straight line, but it handles and rides great and I loved the rotary sound and the uniqueness of the car. So my insurance went down, my gas expenditures stayed the same and I arrive at all my destinations in the same amount of time with a much bigger on my face and don't regret the decision one bit.

Actually, you may just be a tad too young for an RX-8. Seriously, I think this car was geared more toward as a family man/woman's sport car. I bought the RX-8 back in 2003 as an alternative to a 2 seater, as we just had a baby. By the way, I was 40 when I bought it. It's a fun car and hated to give it up when we bought our twin Vettes. So, instead of trading or selling it, decided to keep it and let our almost 16 year old son drive it. I looked good in it and he looks good in it, so.. it's for all ages. I still occasionally drive the RX-8 because I love the sound and feel of the rotary at redline. It's a great car, read the reviews from all sources, it's definately not a boring car. Besides, it looks great. Click here to view our fleet.

I seriously doubt you will be disappointed with RX-8, but good luck with which ever you decide to buy.

Dragonfc3s, I thought you had an 8? You can fit your 3 kids in easy! Ever seen that 8 ad where the caption read 'You made room in your life for kids. Here's a car that does too'.

46 with 3 kids. Yes, I have heard the "mid life crises" comment - - I just laugh. Have owned the car almost a year and still look forward to driving it every time out. Don't mind running the kids around or picking things up for the wife - - another excuse to go for a spin! This car is just so much fun to drive.
