air bags are expensive to replace, i can see why they would want to jack them. damn a holes.

I have been watching ebay for any shift ***** from the Chicago area since losing mine a couple weeks ago. I figure it will never turn up. I have one on the way from a kind forum member who doesn't use their's any more and I can't be more appreciative of his gesture. It should be here any day.

 

More info then you proably neded to know- The RX 8 bags are produced in Japan by Takata with TRW/Ford supplied sensors.
This does make there replacement cost a tad more.

 

yes look out for all your cars with air bags. this has been going on for years now here in Ca, All cars with air bags are subject to this f up theives racket. Your stering wheel air bag is more than a 2000 dollar item.. they may big bucks for stealing them ..

But now you can get a 2005 rx8 with all the right fixs built in .

 

What dealer did you go to? Galpin? Or did they need to do a trade?

But I did have another comment (not funny, though). A couple of people have mentioned that their shift ***** got stolen. I see RX-8 shift ***** on eBay all the time, and they seem to go for around $100 a pop. So I'm wondering how many of these are stolen? It makes me leery of buying anything like that on eBay out of concern that it might have been stolen from someone's car.

 

FYI A lot of what is sold on ebay is stolen. If it's new(nearnew) and you get for half of what it retails for guess what? It's gotta be suspect. That's just my take on ebay fantastic deals!
