I just got my car back from the auto body shop where they repaired my bumper...other than the burning smell which I can't define. When I press the arm button my lights flash and i hear the car lock, but there is no sound. What's up with that. No sound when I arm or disarm the car. Any idea why?

Is there supposed to be a smell after your bumper has just been sprayed? Am I smelling melting paint or did they take my car out for a joy ride and f'd something up. Not to mention they sprayed the gray part of the back bumper black. Still deciding if I'm going to leave it that way or ask for it to go back to gray.
And the paint mist on my mirror and windows has to go.

 

If I recall, the alarm doesn't sound if the trunk or HOOD is open.

Probably not the trunk, (but you could do a quick check!) so I would suspect hood latch/switch damage, likely not repair related, but from the original accident.

Testing it would involve taking the bumper back off......

Press lock once and only the lights flash. Press lock twice and the horn beeps.

 

my hood is locked all doors are locked. before it used to make a sound along with the lights whenever i would lock or unlock the car, now only the lights blink, but no sound.

taking it into the dealership tomorrow. I miss the sound. it does make a sound if I press the lock button twice or press the alarm button.

 

I would consider that abnormal
