All RX8 comes with IMS?

I got my 8 from the dealer. It was very dusty so I opened up the trunk to get the dust remover and noticed a strap I've never seen before. Than it hit me. I read in the manual that the strap hold the IMS kit. I am certain it was there before the car went in for service because I was hearing funny noise from the trunk when ever I came to a full stop so I emptied out the trunk and noticed a bulky box with a strap around it.

I nevered took it out or bother too much with it. I just want to know if all RX8 comes with the IMS kit or was I just seeing things..

I hate to be on the negative side with the service manager by accusing his staff of theft on my first service.

Not all RX-8's come with it. They are like $45 I think. My sales rep went in and comes out with some key chains, floor matts, IMS kit and free tint.

^really?

I thought all new rx8s came with it because what would they do with the strap if they didn't come with it stocked.

I'm pretty sure it's a standard feature. Without a spare tire kit, which is an option, it's the only thing that'll get you back on the road if you have a flat. It's not listed as an option on Mazda's site.

I'm pretty sure all the 8's come with the IMS kit, unless u pay for the spare tire kit.... I'm almost positive that it should be there..... ya not a good thing to get on the bad side of a guy who fixes ur car, but if in fact he did steal it, u should talk to him......

It happens: My owner's manual disappeared after one service visit where they replaced the pax airbag harness ... behind the glove box. Sucks. I doubt they stole it; more like forgot to put it back. A very kind Forum member gave me a new one.

IMS is std whether you get the spare of not. They are not supposed to remove the IMS even when you get the spare.

I figured if it burned or was totalled I'd have spares when I got another RX-8 or stuff to share/sell on the forum.

Good tip - Always guard against tow-truck/dealership thievery/misplacement.
Thanks, But I could not carry everything I was kind of if you know what I mean.

Welp!!!

I spoke with the saleman and he confirmed that I did not get one. I should have received one but I didn't get one.

I apologized to the service manger like 3 times and buying him and his crew lunch tomorrow.

Yes, when the kit comes in, they will call me. I'm gonna hide that in the house somewhere so that I don't get it stolen somewhere else.

How will the IMS fullfill its destiny of "instant mobility" if you have to walk an hour back to your house to get it?
