ok, i am chill, i have a short temper, but i started this thread because when someone comes on here and asks is the 8 the right car for me, we dont know. we dont specifically know the person, his/her driving style and habits, their money situation, etc. i am not a post *****, as i have had a lot of intelligent conversations with people including rotary god, charles, and other people. I know i dont do a whole lot on this forum, but if everyone was serious on this forum, it would be boring as hell. Go ahead, flame me more, i dont care, it doesnt make me any less of a member here and any less of a rx8 owner. i dont know what is up with ike and stealthTL with me, but whatever. i have said this before and i will say it again, i love this forum, and i like to have fun on here just like taj

It's really interesting to see how the forum has gotten younger even in the short time I've been on it. Not to rip on the kids, but it just seems like the content has changed a bit.

well since the resale value isn't exactly stellar, more kids can afford one now. And for the price that they're selling, what other used car can compare...

 

I asked this question just this week but it wasn't so I could find out if YOU GUYS like the car or not, it was more to find out about the reliability of the car among some other questions. I am not made of money so i just wanted to make sure if I get this car will it have me spending tons of money I don't have to keep it running right.

 

Your also forgetting that most of the older jaded members...take part of the fun and games of teasing the others whom they have known for a while...

The content is still there...you just have to look because its probably already been hashed out a billion times...

I don't mind the laid back stuff, just the "should I buy this car" threads are getting a little ridiculous. I'll just stop reading them. (Of course I'd have to get back to work then...)

And as for the resale coming down there is no other car for the price. My girlfriend bought a Mazda 3 and paid $1k less than I paid for my 8. I told her she was crazy.

 

I'd say that if there is a graph of my time spent on here, it started to fall rapidly about a year ago when all the '04s hit two years old and started pouring onto the used market and lots of folks who don't know and don't care dick about the unique nature of this car started buying them and asking stupidass questions non-stop.

So, in that vein, I agree with Chickenman here - the lame-o quotient of this forum is seriously bad, and in my world, its value and interest to me have completely jumped the shark.

I'd say by and large the folks who bought these new starting in '04 when they first came out, were interested in the car, understood and knew about the rotary, and mostly weren't a bunch of teenaged morons buying an inexpensive, but sexy used car.
