Am I the only one?
Having been on this site for over a year, I get the feeling I may be one of a dwindling few who own a totally stock 8. I have a 2004 MT with a touring package and absolutely no mods. I am completely satisfied with the car "as is". Am I crazy or are there others out there like me?

No, you're not the only one. I have an '04 MT with the GT package that is completely stock. Well, I did add an XM Roady2 with the FM transmitter, but I don't think that counts.

I have a totally stock RX-8 as well. However, most of the people who go on this site are car enthusiasts. They are the ones that like to tinker with their toys....
If I had more money, my car wouldn't be stock either!

Lol, of course you arent. I really don't plan on doing mods until the warrenty is up and there are more proven good mods. The exhaust, intake, etc, out there now are just not worth the money for the result. Stock is a fine car. I may do a few minor suspension mods before the wareenty is up just for a tighter feel. Any turbo etc. as of right now is not proven as far as how far it will go before blowing the engine.

The vast majority are stock. If I do anything it will be after the warranty is up. Part of the value of buying a new car is the warranty (and the transferability of the warranty to the next owner). I won't do anything that accelerates the decline in its value. Just think how valuable showroom stock cars become when they are 30+ years old. Same car with mods is almost always worth less.

I've modified alot of cars in my time. I just don't see a whole lot of modifications available for the 8 that are either proven to enhance performance or worth the bang for the buck.

Nope, I have a totally stock 8 as well. Only thing I've done is get new wheels. Maybe that makes me not so stock. I don't need to make the car any faster until I stop being the barrier to it's speed. After a few driving schools, I've realized how much potential the car has. I'm still learning.

Did someone actually just say that!! Maybe, maybe there is hope. You must be old? are you old? no way you're young, far too wise.

Reminds me of the old saying... only a poor carpenter blames his work on the saw.
Good work man. Enjoy the journey.

Stock here and although I've thought about doing stuff to it, thinking back to my past experience on this, I realized that I'll never get any of the money I put in it back so I decided against it. It's better to simply save the money for a better toy...

Leadfoot, mine's just like yours except even more stock! V-red 6MT Touring, but no spare and no CD changer. All my thoughts of doing mods went out the window when the moron driving the pickup truck behind me on the freeway decided to "mod" my car for me by slamming into it.
It's fixed now, but after $16K of repairs I figured it wasn't worth spending more $$ on mods. The car's never going to be worth anything now, so I just drive and enjoy it as is.

you see on any other of my cars i had before something such as intake wasn't even considered a mod. i was never really worried about warrenty and so forth but now that i have the 8 everything seems like it would mess something up on the car so i try to avoid anything until warrenty is over. i don't know i think its just that its my first wankel im just scared of it.

i'm mostly stock...meaning that the only thing that i've added to my car is an amp and sub, which come out really quick and easily (the wires are another story). i have no plans on doing anything to it until the car is paid off and the warranty is over. then i might do something, but even then maybe maybe not. SC is tempting though...

I'm all stock also...don't worry, we will let all the crazy people test out all the mod's and then when it's perfected we can join in the fun at 1/2 the price...LOL.
