Also, dealers only deflood once, then they charge you something like $300 for each additional one. At least myne does.

The dealer will not do the tsb unless you flood. The starter is not listed on that tsb but there is a separate memo to dealers that came later which includes the starter on this tsb. The starter is necessary because it spins much faster than the one it replaces. If you flood your dealer has to do this under warranty. If he refuses you have a legitimate gripe with Mazda. Make a formal complaint with Mazda corp. customer service. Your dealer will be contacted.
I flooded once in two years. It was towed to the dealer. They replaced all the above with no problem. I don't warm up the car and often move it around in the driveway cold. No problem with new setup.

Just curious, did your dealer threaten you that "you have now been warned" and that any future floods will not be covered under warranty?
A lot of people have been getting that line recently although my personal belief is that Mazda will never actually make a customer pay for a de-flood during the car's warranty period.

If anyone in the Chicago/Milwaukee area (+ 50 miles) has a good relationship with a dealer and can get me a swap of the battery/starter under the Mazda warranty, I'd appreciate it. I've flooded one time in Jan '04. I'll take a day off and sit and wait for the car to be repaired.

2004, sad story actually. They fixed it and the next day it was taking forever to start. A week later its still at the dealer. They had to bring in a master mechanic and gave me a brand new 2006 mazda 6 to drive for the time being. They have no idea what is going on with it even after replacing everything they would usually replace. I just want my baby back!
