annoying dealers
So a few weeks ago i went and test drove an AT 8 so i had to travel close to an hour away. My dad did the stupid thing of giving him our number.
The dealer basically said I was crazy to think that i could get a GT for less than 30,000 and if i wanted to, i'd have to take off a lot of features.
Then a few days of leaving there he decided to call, "Heres the info you need to give your insurance group to get the rates." We know what to do and told him and said goodbye.
Then 20 minutes later he called wanting to know how much my other car's payoff is. And yet again, we know how to get it and dont need your help. So bye bye.
And for the past 2 weeks its either him or some woman there calling wanting to talk to us.
Today i answered his call and was like "We'll if money is a problem we got another one in. Its a red GT like you wanted. Its an '04 and around 30,000 miles and its $10,000 less." Im like your crazy. If i wanted an '04 i would not have asked for a new one, my parents dont want me to get a used one and i could get one for a better price.
We are not even going to get this car till around Jan. And it will most likely be an '08. If he wants to sell me a car so bad you think he would lower the price and would understand im not getting it till Jan.

I know how you feel. As a salesman myself I see where you are both coming from. You are tired of hearing from him on a car that you are not ready to buy.
On his side the only way that he is paid is to sell you a car. If he did not think that you were a serious buyer he would not call. It could be that he has no tact....
It is frustrating for both.

If you're not getting it until january there's no pressure on them to sell it to you right now. So I don't know why they keep bothering you.
You've kind of dug yourself into a hole, did you tell them you're the only dealership you've talked to?
Because if I was a car salesman I would laugh my *** off at you for even trying to haggle with me on the price
1. You drove 1 hour away to come to our dealership, and if you're the only one we've spoken to, that means you have no other options and will have to buy from us.
2. You told them you're not even buying it until January. Unless the dealership thinks they're going to get a sell that day or the next, they aren't going to bend over backwards and slice prices like crazy eddy. Especially since you're telling them you're waiting til January, they're just going to keep that car on the lot because I'm sure by that time some sucker will walk on the lot and pay too much for it anyway.
If you're going to try to get them to go lower you need atleast 1 or 2 other dealerships offering you the same car for cheaper, and need to be buying within the week you go up there.
So I don't know why they're calling you everyday, but at the same time even though they are, don't expect them to budge on a car price they won't be able to sell to you until 6 months down the line.
That's just my 2 cents.

Well, we we talked to him to go drive it we didnt tell him when we were gonna get it and im not sure my parents told him. And most likely are not going to buy from him because its so far and its been crazy. There are 2 more dealers that are closer which we will most likey buy from. We just went that far because they were the closest one with AT, and thats what i have to get but idk i would like MT but parents are not happy about that.

Well, I am definitely going to another dealer at least to see what they have to say. Why in hell would I buy an '07 for 30,000 when i can wait a few months and pay the same price for an '08?
A few hours ago the woman called again and asked if we were still interested. I told her we didnt plan on getting one till next year. She said she would make a note of it. Lets see how many more hours till they call again.

The tradition is that prices drop as the model year winds down, so you shouldn't really pay the same for a 2007 now as a 2008 in January. Used to be that you'd negotiate a better deal. Nowadays it seems that the manufacturers (or importers) do it with incentives. Check Mazda USA's site for incentives. There should also be posts here that track what they've been.
Do you have any friends or relatives who work for Ford? That could entitle you to a family price. My brother works for Ford, so I bought Zoomy on S-Plan, which works for immediate and close family. That's essentially invoice price, no haggling, plus incentives. Take the haggling out of the picture, and buying a car can be a really enjoyable experience.

bert, ken has a good idea there, sounds like you need to dump your BF and ellope with some guy that works for Ford then buy your car, dump him, and tell your BF it was part of your master plan to get your car.

And i do have someone related to me. Its my dad's sisters kid or something like that. But is that closed enough?
#13
see if they catch you and be like "oh I was mis informed..."
If I worked for Ford, I'd let you dump your boyfriend and marry me

Well, all the guys i want to stay with end up as jerks. I do anything for them, pay for everything. And they expect more. I'd hope to get more time with him. But at times he hasn't got to hang with his friends. Idk. He is 2 years younger me and our diff views get in the way. Not to mention that hes columbian. Im not that great all the times anyway though.
Guess it takes us awhile to learn whats good for us.

Once you had the car you wanted identified, they'd go into the system at Ford and get you a PIN.
I had a near miss in my quest for wheels. My brother told me about this system, and how I could get a deal on a Volvo. I was actually looking at Volvos before I came to my senses. (Volvo really would have blown my shot at second childhood.) He then started touting Mustangs. It was only after I said I wanted a sports car, not a sport's car, that he revealed that Mazda was part of the Ford family.

I would dump my friends every night for a woman that would do that. I seem have the problem of meeting girls that aren't even willing to bend the slightest bit of backwards for me, yet I would do almost anything for them. I don't get it.
Oh well. Maybe someone I'll meet the right girl that can compare to the great one I already have. Her rotaries will have to be bigger, 1.3 Liters is a bit small

You'd have to ask them. They'd know what you were entitled to, and the process.

I bought my 06 in February...
...In March, I found out I could've gotten S-plan pricing.
I just looked up the pricing...
On S-plan, you could get a GT (AT) for around $29k + incentives.

Your best bet is to wait until the '08's come out, then the deals really start for the '07 models. The dealerships obviously have to get rid of inventory and will start dropping prices on the previous year models. If you're patient enough, you'll end up saving thousands.
I did that and ended up getting an MT '05 GT for $23,500 brand new in January '06. It was hardly touched other than a few test drives. Then you can take all that money you saved and use it towards mods or buy a better bf rofl
