Sorry, I do not know why I had to come and say this. But its just pissing me off. ls1gto.com started a thread at the lounge about RX-8's. Some people like it, others are just being stupid ignorant rednecks sayin its a girl and sissy car. Others say the technology is stupid. It would be cool if some of you help defend these really nice cars. No trash talking, just correcting some things over there.

while yur motive is noble in it's cause, there will always people that think like this about any car.

Let um talk and whine all they want. The RX-8 isn't for everyone by any means, and if they want to belittle themselves with mindless chatter amoungst their single-minded peers, you'll never get through to them...especially on any site relating to LS1. Torque and power rule supreme, putting them in an ENTIRELY different mindset then 8 owners.

 

i agree with stavesacre. going on there just to defend our car is just going to be more hectic and cause more problems. sure i'd like to read all they have to say, but i'd never comment. let them believe what they want to.

 

Suggestion, go look at all the other threads it gets raves and general same concern comments as here. Don't judge a group/forum based on a couple of opinions expressed by its posters.

 

I say just don't go to other forums looking up RX-8 stuff. You will always get someone bashing on the car. The more you read the more you tend to get pissed because you love your ride, and as long as you love it, thats all that matters.

 

From the thread that I just read over there, it seems much more flame-retardant then i would have thought. At least 1/2 of them seem to have level heads and think on both sides of the fence. To be honest, I was rather impressed for the most part.

Maybe I just wasn't reading the right thread but i've seen much worse gang-bangs on such topics. Having come from SVTperformance.com, i'm well aware of how stupid and one-track-minded some people can be.

but i too am impressed at the level of rxclub members' intelligence compared to other forums. its helped me feel even more satisfied knowing that fellow owners aren't pure dimwits!

I saw Ike talking smack about the 8 on an R/C forum of all places. I'm starting to think the objective evo owner is an 8 troll. :-)

 

really should put this in the rules....

rx8club staff frown on "calls to arms" to go to other forums and defend or attack. this generally results in members of other forums coming here and starting flame wars which do nothing but waste everyones time and forum space. please refrain from these types of threads

That's why I bought one for the wife to drive.

 

We have people here that express their feelings against other cars all the time. You're into what you're into and anything different is going to be looked at differently than someone else who doesn't have the same interest. Many people are biased for their car and against others. This is true regardless of car or forum.

 

Good thing there's never been any posts here trashing other cars like the EVO, STI, GTI, GTO, 350z, S2K, G35. Pot meet Kettle.

hehe about this post. I was drunk yesterday night. But anyways, it seems like people have defended the 8's name very well.

To clear things up, I am a memeber at the ls2gto.com forums. I traded in my rx8 for, well, the LS1. I love both cars, but they are completely different animals. I was just getting annoyed by some of the ignorant comments some people made.

But you guys are right about it changing nothing and just creating wars.

well, just to let you guys know, I still love the 8. I had many a problems with it, but the way it just made you feel part of the car was amazing...

 

hmmmm.... this thread is getting a little interesting.....
We'll just leave the big GTO's for the "macho" drivers and the 8 for the profesional drivers.

 

I had no idea what you were talking about so I went and checked. Me making a joke asking if the new RX-8 RC car has overrated hp is hardly "talking smack", especially when it was some guy introducing a site about real cars vs. RC cars and he had the RX-8 listed at 250hp. I simply was helping him get the right info and making a joke along the way, lighten up.

I end up defending and correcting misinformation about the RX-8 on other sites more times than saying anything bad about it.

 

I read that other forum's thread and it was mild. It wasn't really RX-8 bashing, besides for a few morons who clearly had no idea what they were talking about. I'd rather leave it to the uninformed to make themselves look like fools.
