Another me 2 thread. Have joined the ranks of owners but WTF?
Great community here btw. Looking forward to lurking far more than I have so far.
I purchased my spankin new 2004 RX-8 6sp manual with everything but the nav and have been fairly happy with it for the most part. A question/concern I do have however is that I purchased it on 9/14/2004 but out of curiousity as to whether or not I have the "M" flash, I went down to look for stickers on my window sticker or on the car but none are present. Then I noticed what appears to be a build date.
FE 02
Am I correct in that my car was built in Feb of 2002? Does that make my car one of the oldest out there even though it is barely 3 weeks old and with only 700 miles on it?
If that is the build date, then beyond the "M" flash, any help as to what I should make sure the dealer does to my "new" car to get it past all the hiccups everyone has mentioned for the past year would be greatly appreciated. I'm loving the car but would like to make sure I'm up to snuff on matters. Currently averaging 14 MPG so doubt I'm there yet.
Thanks ahead of time. Having previously owned a 300ZX TT for 12 years, I'm really enjoying being able to take the family along now on my "joy rides". :D

Also look at your VIN, and check it against the various service bulletins here.
Most are specific to a VIN range.
Have fun with it, I've had mine 5 weeks and I still *LOVE* it!
Also, for further questions keep in mind that MANY of the things you will encounter have been brought up before. This site has a pretty awsome search feature. Use it and you'll learn lots about the proper care and feeding of your new toy.
Good luck,
-Dennis

nifty :)
This is what this car does to me. The first car I've owned that has ever driven me to explore a community, get excited about modding it lightly (but to mod at all!) and to join the general buzz around it. It definitely is a neat car and fun toy. I now feel let down when traffic is light and I have a shorter commute LOL.
And yes, I've already started trying the search function and it is quite handy. Going to check that door sticker again at lunch in a few. The FE 02 was taken off the sticker and I thought that was it but as I learn the "mazda-speak" the FD, FE is now making sense.
