Another New RX-8 Owner
I have been seeing several new RX-8 owner threads recently, and here is another. I have bee browsing the forums for a few months now, and finally bought an RX-8 a week and a half ago. I got a 2005 (05/05 build date) Velocity Red 6 speed with Sport Package (Xenons, DSC). So far, I love it!
It was completely stock when I bought it, but I already put a Mazdaspeed (dual canister) exhaust on (Sounds Good!). I also just ordered some 19" G-Games by Rays Wolf 77 2-piece silver wheels with 245/35/19 tires all around, so I can't wait to get those in the mail and put them on, as well as a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs.
I think I will tint the windows, maybe get some fender strakes and rotary accents, paint my rusty hubs flat black and calipers gloss red, and call it a day.
Just thought I would introduce myself, I'll get some pics up once I get my new wheels on.

Sounds good, get a short shifter. I'd also consider an intake or a hi-flo drop in type filter. If it's in your budget and your miles allow it, get a flywheel your car will tank you and you'll be happier.

Cool, thanks for the suggestions. I've been thinking about a short shifter (is the Axialflow the best?), and would like an RB intake but it's $$. Do you think a drop-in filter is good for anything? I have heard that a flywheel makes a pretty good difference, but once you factor in labor it's pretty $$ too. I'll let my bank accout recover from my current spending spree and consider those

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome.
Yes sir, I am very familiar with the mod bug, I have been infected for years now. Every car I've owned has had wheels, most have had suspension, and different things here and there.
I will definitely consider the AFE shifter, maybe I'll try to find someone local with it to feel it first. I do like clears on most colors (silver, grey, black, white, probably blue, etc.) but I don't think I do on red, so I'll probably leave them orange.
Any more suggestions, keep them coming!

Well I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I just have to say after my first two weeks of RX-8 ownership, I am quite pleased so far. And more than anything else, this car can handle!
My previous car was a Porsche Boxster with a coil-over suspension and meaty tires (265 in the back), so I'm no stranger to the twisties. That car could carry some serious speed through the corners, but it achieved this with a pretty stiff suspension set-up. My biggest surprise so far is how well the RX-8 corners on the stock, semi-soft suspension (feels like a Cadillac compared to my Boxster!).
I haven't really had a chance to take it to or near it's limits, but even with the stock suspension the turn-in is just fantastic. Two cheers for a low and centralized CG!
The steering feel doesn't have the feedback my Porsche did, and I don't think the ratio feels quite as quick, but the feel of the car itself is great. When you turn the wheel it just goes--it doesn't take a second to set the suspension, it doesn't lean over, it just attacks the corner and stays so well balanced and under control, no understeer rearing it's ugly face (as opposed to the Boxster, which just pushed wide once I approached the limit).
Should be even better once I get my springs on there and a little more rubber on the ground. (Still waiting on the wheels, pics coming when they get here.)

Don't forget about the pictures! I have the Axial flow shifter and love it, others 8 owners who've tried it can't believe how short the throws are. I have the RB intake as well and I'm very pleased with it.
