Another new RX-8 owner
Hi...I just joined, and this is almost my first post.
I passed the magic 60 mark last year, and decided I needed a proper mid-life crisis car. Been driving a Honda Accord for the past 19 years, and had a VW Rabbit before that. My first car was an Alfa Romeo Guilietta Spider (old and worn out), and my first new car (after getting a real job) was a BMW 2002, so I knew what I've been missing for all those practical years.
Got a fairly basic 2006 RX-8. 6-speed manual, Galaxy Gray, Sport Package. Had it for two weeks, but was out of town for half of that so I've only put about 300 miles on it so far. But I think my face will split from the smile I've had during those 300 miles. Looking forward to the break-in being over so I can enjoy 9000 rpm.
I've spent a fair amount of time reading this site, and I've learned an awful lot about the car. That's making me enjoy it even more. Also see a lot of very good people here. I look forward to participating.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. I'm definitely going to enjoy and take care of this car. It's great having something cool and out of the ordinary again. And especially something to make friends over.
I'll be breaking it in pretty quickly. I have a trip to Blacksburg tomorrow (about 250 miles) and I have a feeling I'm not going via the Interstate. :-)
I've got a question about the RX-8 culture. When I see another 8 on the road, do we wave at each other? When I had my Alfa back in the 60s, every sports car driver waved at each other. Never happened with the Accord.

Another satisfied customer,,Welcome to the Forum Ken and enjoy the RX-8.
I do the wave and headlight flash thing. You will get a response about 75% of the time.
The other 25% just bought a car, not a driving experiance.
