one problem with vanity plates like SHFTAT9 is that they mean nothing to 99% of the people who see them.

part of the allure of a vanity plate is that the general public "gets it".

I saw a guy with some bad A$$ exotic car and the plate read "BITCHEN". it was bitchen. i think it wa a pantera... I saw a photo fo the Ferrari with "GIDDYUP".... you see the prancing horse, the plate, the red Ferrari... people; get it and it is cool.

you put MY BMW and it just looks stupid. stuff like SHFTAT9 no one will understand it.

NOPSTNS is clever and car people will get it.
RXTASY is clever and most people will get it

the average person doesn't know much about cars...nor do they knwo much about plates.

i figure - get a license plate frame that says "Screw MPG, I want RPM" and you make your point for $15 custom plate made at hte swap meet then you can pull it off if you want.

We always kid him for having a plate that reads "No Pee Stains".

If you want to avoid people knowing your plate or to hide from red light cameras you could use a combination of zero, the letter o, and the letter d. On a plate they all look very similar. 0OD

Or try
R-XXX-8

 

actually if you go to the california DMV website they no longer have the letter "o" as an option, just the number 0
but you could do ODODO

 

Or just don't run redlights and you don't have to worry about it

 

Try "F8", or "RXF8" or "RX F8" whatever looks best.

Cryptic plates do nothing and are stupid/waste of money. most people will not get it nor will they care. also cryptic plates can also be something that means something only you would understand. Thats dumb also, not what you think is important.. thats fine, but 99.9% of the people who read it won't.. And don't you put a plate on a car so others can "connect" with what you are saying?
