my car has less than 1500 miles on it, and the breaks have squeaked since 15. I just don't care, since they feel spectacular. I think that good brakes should squeal a bit. :p And as I go along and accumulate some miles, I anticipate them to squeak maybe even more when the pads and eventually rotors are replaced/uprated.

Here's an interesting note on commonality...the RX8 door handle is exactly the same as the one used on the new Ford Mustang. So I guess that means you will not have to worry about not being able to get into the car....at least from a broken door handle..

BTW, I'm coming up on four years with my 8 and aside from the recalls and minor crap you would, and do, see on any car, I've been very happy with my 8.

Well I am not bashing the 8, I have had mine 2 years and loved it. But.....

I added up all my service records and I have had 31 items fixed or replaced on the car. Also my power steering stopped working this weekend and I am still waiting (3+ months) on my replacment cd player because mine constantly skips.

I am positive this is not a reflection of the majority of Rx8's out there but rather one of few "problem cars".

Sadly this has conviced me to get rid of my RX-8 before the warranty expires. Luckily Mazda recently extended them.

Let me start by saying I love my RX8. To a point.

Funny how all the people on this site that have had problems are supposedly in the "Minority". I am going to do an experiment. I am going to survey everybody I know with an RX8 and list there problems and then I will get some averages of how they rate there problems just to see if us people with problems are in the minority. I know it will not be a truely scientific survey but.....

I myself have never been contacted by Consumer Reports or anyone other than my Mazda dealer for a satisfaction survey.

lets see, i have an '06 Galaxy Grey Shinka. Had the driver sunvisor replaced, 6disc changer replaced, and center console lid replaced, all at the same time. to me, all very minor issues. only have a little over 10,000mi on it had it for about 6 months. But i have absolutely no sign of any of the strange noises or engine quirks that i see so often on here. I couldnt be happier with my 8 thus far.

BTW, in the REAL world, mechanical objects have problems. Maybe in RX8 Utopia where all is well they don't but in the real world all cars have problems from time to time. And contrary to your stupid statement, people who own mechaical objects that encounter problems are not stupid.

Bob
People who bash without doing their own homework Deserves the Stupid title.

I know mechanical objects can and will have problems(someday)

I think the biggest problem are the dealerships .... most of them are sub-par and I seriously have no idea how did those people even got their ASE crap.

Dont bash me that fast.

Me:

Fuel Tank, Engine, Heater Unit, console lid, three or four visors (current drivers side visor is splitting), two left tail lights, one right tail light, and.... Well, I feel like I am forgetting something. Oh, and my dealer has been good, except for the fact that they never call me when my car is ready.
