Any 8 owners SERIOUSLY contemplating 20B or FI

The Acosta thread got me thinking about serious performance upgrades for the 8. My warranty is very important to me, so I am 4 years away from serious fun, but given my financials are good I am definitely turning the 8 into a beast. I haven't decided how to go, it all depends on aftermarket development over the next few years. My question is who is planning on doing what? My options in this little question are:
1) keeping the car stock
2) Mild performance mods (cat back, intake, etc)
3) Adding a turbocharger or supercharger with all the goodies that go with it (IC, computer, fuel pump, etc)
4) A full 20B conversion, custom built or JDM.

Forced Induction, like a super or turbo charger.

Your choices aren't really complete. I'd like to stay NA, but I'm definitely game for any kind of porting that might be "discovered". I would hardly call that a mild upgrade, since it requires tearing apart the motor and dremeling the ports (maybe some other things for 10K+ operation?). It may only result in mild gains, however.

B-Nez, from what I understand of porting your gains are moderate to small unless you do some pretty radical porting and couple that with other mods. Most 13b-rew owners and 2nd and 1st gen owners who have ported engines only got them ported when replacing engines and then did other upgrades to the internals (3mm apex seals, better side seals, better oil delivery, etc). I didn't include a port option in the poll because I rarely have seen that or 3mm apex seals mentioned on this forum. Sorry about that, it should have been an option.

BTW, porting the Renesis should not cost 10K. You can buy a rather radically ported 13B-rew, with many upgrades for far less than that. Call Petit and see what they may be doing for the Renesis.

I was referring to 10K+ rpm, not dollars. Sorry, I should have been more clear: 10K+ rpm operation. And roger that - radical porting. It remains to be seen how much porting can be done on the Renesis. It will be interesting to see.

B-Nez, Cool, give us a report as you investigate options as I think it is very interesting as well. Radical bridge ports make the car run like **** at the low end, but high end can be great. Yeah, I thought a 10K operation was expensive. Sorry for my misunderstanding.

going to try porting

i met a guy at a track down here in savannah who works on rotarys, he said he would street port my 13b-msp for about $300, only problem is tha tyou need a new ecu if you do that...b/c the factory one will not knw owhat the hell is going on if you port the engine. So the new ecu will cost about $1200...ouch. I'll also need new intake/exhaust manifolds for the wider ports....but he custom makes them in his shop so that won't be too bad...only like 250 for each (total 500 for manifolds). He also has some msd ignitions and coil packs tha the'll off load on me for a good price; almost forgot he is putting on new apex seal made for drag racing and taking nos(although i won't be running any nos) All told it'll be about $2000-$2500 to do all this......but he said i could be making anywhere form 350-400 rwhp, and my car will red line at 12k but i'll probable rev-limit it to 10k to give me a nice margine of error. Moral of the story is, if you can find a bomb-*** sop i would go to town on the porting option.....only down side is....poof there goes the warrinty.
