Your OK, most of the complaints were about flooding, haven't heard any recent floods on here unless they are to stupid to read the manuals. Engine failures have happened but only in certain areas/ weather conditions. People tend to whine and post their aggravations. Knew a woman at work bought a brand new chevy and engine blew in one week! Crap happens, don't let the whining worry you, you have a great car.

I have an early build date 2004. I live in New England and my 8 just went in yesterday exhibiting the issues apparently warranting a new engine.

I don't live in the climates suggested to cause the problem. But I have had my 8 for 42,000 miles of great driving and started to have the "problems" with the engine.

It is really hard to say if any 8 will have these problems because as far as I know... No one seems to know the real reason for the cause of this problem.

It is a great car and I had never regreted buying it. Even if I need a new engine or not.

If you take care of the car and don't seriously ABUSE it , you should be ok for a long time.

Why worry? Mazda covers your car with a bumper to bumper warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles. The entire engine and drivetrain is covered with a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty so you shouldn't have any engine or drive line worries for that period of time. Mazda's in the process of recalling your car to check if the engine is good. If it isn't, you get a new engine. If you add aftermarket performance parts or abuse your car - you're screwed because Mazda could void your warranty coverage (depends on your dealer).
