Question Anybody else's parking lights stop flashing...

... when you press the lock or unlock button on the fob?

Mine always flashed until yesterday. All of a sudden they don't any more. When locking the car I have to press twice and annoy the neighbors with the horn beep just to make sure it's locked.

Is there some secret setting that I f***d up somehow?

If not, do I dare ask the dealer to look for a cause? Not that I don't trust dealer service, but I don't want them re-flashing me back to "C" or overfilling with 20W-50 while they're poking around. :D

Dude, trunk is open. This is a nice indicator to make sure the trunk is closed when you lock up. It does not flash if a door or trunk is open.

I had this happen too and thought it was something wrong. Turned out (like they're saying)my trunk was open. I felt silly, but at least it wasn't a major problem.

WHealy,
I just did a search for "fob +lights", which of course I should have done first. Mea culpa.

The most recent thread whose title is clearly relevant was active some 280 days ago (early January), so not quite as bad as you thought.

Of course if you had searched first you'd have known that! :D :D :D

I propose a counter for "# of days without a MPG thread". That would save pixels, since it would never reach double digits!

SpinninAgain,

Wasn't pointed at you. I purposly waited until you posted that you had your issue resolved. Could always be something else. Just having a little fun ... not intended at your expense. And yes MPG would be more fun!

WHealy,
No problem even if it was.

I take criticism easily. That's what happens when you get lots of practice!

Like flatso said, feelin' the forum's love. Four door huggies all around.

Well, I have a slightly different problem. My lights flash the first time I hit the button (either lock or unlock) but not the second. On the second unlock push, I hear the other doors unlocking, no flash. On the second lock push, I hear the horn (any way to turn that down? Kinda loud! Maybe that's another thread).

Where was I? Oh yeah, horn but no flash. The manual says you should get a flash on the second click. My Wife's 6 flashes every time; second, third, sisteenth click. I gotta think the 8 's alarm system is pretty similar (if not identical)

Is it just me?

Oh, and speaking of getting lost, I only started with WHealy's quote because I would never have thought to search 'fob'. I guess I'll go try that now.

Cheers all. BTW, isn't this a great [Cheney expletive]ing car?

it flashes only on the first lock or unlock. second unlock push unlocks passenger side with no flash. second lock push beeps the horn no flash. no there is no way to turn down the horn. also if you unlock with the key fob but do not open the doors with in a set amount of time they will relock and arm(flash) the alarm. this also works even when the doors were already unlocked. so you have 2 ways to lock and arm your car- use the lock button or even when they are already unlocked use the unlock buton and dont open the doors the car will lock and arm.

Dang, Zoom44. I should have waited for your reply, just did a big ol' search using everything I could think of without finding an answer. Felt compelled to start a new thread in General Discussion.

Thanks Zoom 44.

Any guess why the manual says you should get a flash on every push?
