Question Anybody naming their RX-8s?

Has anyone named their RX-8 yet?

Back in my Miata days a lot of Miata owner's named their cars. I never managed to name any of my three Miatas, but I'm rolling a name around in my mind (lots of empty space for that :D ) for my RX-8.

I agree, but saying "Let's take the RX-8" just doesn't roll off the tongue like "Let's take the Miata" did. Too bad that Mazda didn't use dual nomenclature on RX-8 like on the MX-5/Miata (at least in the U.S.).

Depends how you say it and "Let's take the eight" does. Or, if you only own one say "Let's take the Mazda". etc

I prefer "Let's take MY car."

There's a difference?

It will be loyal, obey my comands, and be with me for about 13 years. I'll just have to feed it regularly.

And yes, it will be "My Lilttle Pup" aka "Puppy"

Won't work. I've got two cars and my wife has her SUV. I guess I could just refer to the RX-8 as "The Toy".

Cool

I know it ain't too original, but my Miata is "Zoomer". My RX-8 will be called "Zing the Merciless".:D

The car will tell you its name, in time.

Sometimes it'll whisper it to you. Sometimes it'll yell it. Sometimes, a friend or relative will name it for you.

To some, it's Just A Car.

To others.. well.. it's a very deep rabbit hole

My current steed was named by a friend, who noticed similarities between my miata and a rather sexy cartoon character.

A slight correction. I did name a car once.

In 1985 I had an Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra Diesel as a company car. It was always "that P-O-S Olds". :D

What's in a name?

We have always named our cars with names that end in "ie" or "y". You will hear the someone in the family ask "are we taking 'greenie' or 'yuckie'?" So far 'zoomie' has begun to gel for the X. The names are kinda lame but it's a family thing. We have 3 to 5 cars at any give time so the name thing is a must.

I'd have to agree, that's definitely the name for this car.

The '8'; no more no less, fully desribes the car.

Why call it anything else?

Since the RX-8 will be my other Mazda, (the other the Protege), the RX-8 will be referenced as:

"THE car" as opposed to "the car".

i've been throwing around a few names...

since I right now have the "pr0ber", the natural progression would be to call my RX8 the "******" - however that may be a little cruel

also have been calling it the "Rex" lately which may stick...

also threw around the name "Max"or "Maxy" or "Dark Angel" cause I use to have this obsession with Jessica Alba who played Max in the show Dark Angel

That is the common nickname for the Subaru WRX. People will think you have a WRX, we wouldn't want that now would we?
