anyone notice the oil dipstick is painted?

There seems to be brown paint on it. When I was checking my oil and wiping the dipstick I noticed the paint chipping off. I think I'm going to give it some acetone and wipe off all the paint. Why would they paint it? It sure as heck isn't going to rust in there.

Cool Gone....

Paint is long gone, 'Dremeled' the back, down to bare metal.
Transfered the High & Low marks to the back then stripped the paint. The new rough 'brushed' look finish shows the oil level MUCH better.

That's bizarre. Then again, after seing reports of condensation on the dipstick, could it be that rust is a problem? But heck, if you're going to paint it, why not use white, to help see the oil? Brown sounds retarded.

Maybe so it looks like bare metal??? Rust on a dipstick would not be good either.
