I've had 2 engines replaced. First one was replaced at 13K mi and was a new one from Mazda Japan. I had to wait 5 weeks for that to get done. That one was replaced at 24k mi with a rebuilt one. That took a little over a week to complete. I'm now at 50K mi and the rebuilt one has been the best one yet.
Mazda is rebuilding themselves now at at place in Virginia. One of the techs is so proud of the work they are doing he has started posting on this site. He doesn't even own a RX8 or a Mazda. He drives a 350Z.
Warranty was just extended to 100K mi because Mazda wants to back the rotary engine.
If you unfortunate to have to replace an engine, be glad you got the RX8.

What is the real story? Company car or Old lady?!?!

You said this as well..."Im so serious that this car drives and rides better than any other car i have ever owned or driven and ive driven many from lambos, porches even rolls royces."

It really is a good car if you take care of it from the get go (brand new), unfortunately the used ones are the ones that go bad (most of the time)due to previous owners not maintaining it as they should or driving it like grannies.

It's not that it is a foreign car but a not taken care of USED car. Everyone knows Japon makes some of the most reliable cars out there.

Go back to your mundane Mercury Milan, you were going through a midlife crisis anyhow.

BTW, Your beloved Mercury is going bye-bye...http://www.fordmuscle.com/blog/last-...mercury/112288

Ironically, had I done any in-depth research on the 8 before I got mine, I'd have gotten something else. Not so much for the fuel economy, but because I didn't want another "special needs" engine (former diesel owner). I can't express how glad I am that I didn't.

You can baby the car, but don't baby the engine. The previous owners(s)- 40 year old lady, company, Elvis, whoever it is this week- may have done the maintenance, but if they didn't drive it the way it's meant to be driven, they did more harm than good.

As soon as this engine gets replaced i am getting rid of this car immediatly no if and or buts about it

It's just a engine, man. Don't wig out. Sounds like you've never owned a car that needed a new engine. Consider this a "if it doesn't kill you, it'll make you stronger" experience and learn from it.

A mid forties businessman who is to lazy to write in complete sentences. Wow! Honda also happens to put out a pretty reliable car, and your a ******* dolt if you think that your Ford or Mercury is soooo incredibly reliable. And by the way taking the time to say how much your suit costs makes you sound like a jackass.

Anyway, I too just recently had my engine replaced coincidentally at 22,500 miles. It sucked yes, and I was pretty pissed but Mazda did not make me pay for a thing. My "remanufactured" engine runs great, and I'm pretty close to being happy. So get over it, and go spend some time on a Mercury forum with the 80 year olds.

If you researched before you purchased, which is what any SMART businessman would do, then you would of known to stay away from the 04's. If your a SMART businessman then you wouldn't trade in the quickly depreciated (Think 10k-14k maybe) sports car for another USED car that may cause more problems. Why is your name TVTECH, are you sure your not a door to door "salesman" selling tv's? A $1500 suit isn't expensive, thats pretty cheap actually so I wouldn't mind getting all sweaty over it.
I assume you didn't you know, LOOK AT THE STICKER ON THE CAR that tells your CITY/HIGHWAY MPG when you bought the car. Yes its a 1.3l but you can't compare it to a piston 1.3l ....you know what a rotary engine is right? I am going to make a lot of assumptions right now:
You probably have an automatic.
You probably never shift (using the sport shifter) past 6k
Your a 44 year old virgin that adopted a kid to look like you actually had sex

And btw...whatever they're doing to your air conditioning is not gonna work. They gave me the same line of bs about a new "A/C Amplifier", but it won't make a difference. But I think you deserve to sweat it out anyway.

Oh yeah and you know what else? You got owned on the price of your car, you paid 17k for an 04 with 20,000 miles? I don't care if the car is filled with bricks of gold. You got ripped off. Your terrible.

So...............did you drive the RX8 real hard and aggressive and redline it?.............or did you drive it conservatively and gently and baby it?

go find consumer ratings report. and internet forums.

its all about the ratio, 1000 out of 10,000,000 and 1 out of 10000 has the same ratio.

google is ur friend, u'll be disappointed on how bad Jeep actually is.

There are not very many people who believe that Jeep and Ford are poster child for rock solidness. The foreign economy vehicles have ruled reliability for decades.

I cannot believe this person is for real, because I cannot believe that anyone can be so out of touch with reality.
