Asking for suggestion on buying a crashed rx8
There is one good deal on the 2004 rx8 and i heard from the seller the car has been in an accident on the front. now the painting is all new and runs on 37k miles without title.
Do you guys think it is okay to get that car? the price is at 5000usd.

No proof he owns the car and its been in a wreck? I cant believe hes even asking 5k for it lol. You can buy it if you really love it, but it might end up being owned by someone else or have a lien on it and then your SOL.
Really you should get more info on the type of accident and how bad it was. I wouldnt be going near this car if it were me though.

I wouldn't buy anything without a title. My neighbor down the street bought a wrecked civic for parts. The car had no title. He was awoken by cops banging on his door the following morning. Turns out the car was stolen.

A newer/modern/nice car, or a car that you intend to drive daily but has no title? Heck no. You don't just "lose" the title to a 6 year old car. Its not even likely to be paid off by now.
If the owner did legitimately just "lose" the title, he can file with his state for a duplicate title for less than 25 dollars in most cases, and once he gets it he can sign it over to you and you're good to go.
You can't get tags for a car with no title, and you can't drive a car with no tags, so you can't drive a car with no title.

good idea. if the car you saw was on chicago CL, then I know what you're talking about. I had a long conversation with the current "owner" this week. short version - the previous owner (body shop) has applied for a replacement title from the DMV. the current "owner" has no title, just a bill of sale. he said that it is taking a very long time to get the title and he's tired of waiting. if you buy this car (assuming everything is legit), it would sit idle for a while until that new title came. this is not the car to buy if you want something that you can drive right away.

Take it from me, getting a car that IS NOT JUST FOR PARTS with anything to do with the title besides them signing it and you legalizing it in your name is a bad idea. I've lost an RX-7 that way to some local scammers. Still pissed at myself to this day.

A buddy of mine served two years in prison for a situation like it. He found a boat for sale in the local paper. Paid about 4500 for said boat. It was an aluminum boat, with a 30HP engine, nothing great just a good solid fishing boat. Well he buys the boat off the guy, and goes down to register it about 4 days later. When he gets to the office they arrest him for having a stolen boat in his possession and he gets felony charges.
Well the guy that sold the boat was the owner, but he filed an insurance claim for stolen property. That way he could get twice the money he wanted for it. So after he sold the boat to my friend, he filed a police report and reported the boat as stolen. He had a receipt and all.
