Why bother? My old Protege ran low 16's. You'll just give RX8's a bad name because the people that don't know it's an auto (and that the auto's are under powered) will think Rx8's are turds. Stay off the drag strip.

sebring is next
seems like waiting list for novices
any ways with a 125 mph limiter what good are tall gears
2006+ are not under powered same engine as stick but rated
at lower rpm due to tourqe convertor not being able to withstand high rpms

anyone know where to get a better tourqe convertor ?

You can get them custom made, not sure where but I believe someone else here had theirs made. Also I suggest a reflash to boost your redline to 8500 for the AT. Intercepter-x also provides HP benefits while staying N/A.

You can get the FEED 4.77 rear gear from JonDemand. I think the base auto has a 4.10 rear end, but the auto with one of the upgrade packages has the 4.44. I know the GT has it, but I'm not sure what level it starts at.

AutoX with the AT. It sure isn't going to be fun at a dragstrip.

I won't make any snarky comments about trying to make an AT RX8 a drag car.

But please tell me you didn't just buy a brand new car and then immediately take it to the drag strip instead of properly breaking in the engine.

auto rx-8 is a drag at the drags
manual rx-8 is also a drag at the drags
just not as draggy
beee careful about the brake in
you might break something at the drags
the manual tran rx-8 doesn't require brake in at the drags
another advantage it has over the auto

I don't think he meant power-braking. I think he can't spell "break-in" right.

Creekmonster thats not a wise move RX-8 is not a 0-60 car.

Creekmonster thats not a wise move RX-8 is not a 0-60 car. If I was to buy a RX-8 1st it would have to be 6spd manual and if I bought the RX-8 in automatic, lets say for a great discount price $$. I wouldn't be trying to race it 0-60. Its a nice Touring Sports Car with a smooth reveing engine with nice interior and exterior styling.

Don't you read the Posts and replies on this forum, its a great AutoX car or for taking fast S curves on twisting road (still better in 6spd manual, but not bad in auto) on a secluded country road. Read the post here, they will guide you on all the "dos" and "don'ts", these gys are pretty honest about the Pros and Cons.

Really you have a fine smooth riding Automobile that looks hot, but its not gonna win many Quarter mile runs. Stop this before you break something and then start posting that the RX-8 is unreliable. Any car that you abuse or driven hard, will show signs of wear and you will have to repair it sooner then later.

You got a fine vehicle, just use it to pickup women and criuse around Cool. Don't forget the S curves on those country roads!!

But running a high 14/low 15 in the manual and people will have a different opinion?

They'll just call the 8 slow instead of glacial.

Good call...who cares if he took his auto 8 to the dragstrip? It's his car, his engine, and his money.
