Thumbs up Automatic?

Hey guys, I want to know who on here has an Auto. RX-8 and what you think about you car(s), what mods you have, and any other information that could educate other people that own Automatic RX-8's.

I have a 2004 Velocity Red with just a spoiler so far, thats about it haha but I love it!

What about you?

I have a pre-order '04 A/T. It's my seventh RX and my first A/T. It was hard ordering the auto, took me weeks to finally order it because I really wanted the 6 spd. After two back surgeries I knew it was all I could do to help me stil have a rotary. I drove it home and worried how the ride would be on my back. The stick gives you more control and fun, but once you are up to speed and in the twisties you are in the zoom-zoom zone. I hope to be feeling better when the new 8 comes out soon and get the stick again. I have the appearance pack and love the car.

I wish I could've gotten the MT, but I got the AT for free (The car), but I've been making the best of it. Sure, it doesn't have as much power, but it's not any less fun.

lol, I don't use the paddle-shifters... it's too much like a corny video game. When I'm in "manual mode" I use the stick...

Guys, if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it. There's no need to crap on the automatic, or this thread.

yeah exactly, we all know that the 6sp. rx-8s are faster but I started this thread just to know who else on the forums has an automatic. I love my car. And this isn't www.6speedrx8club.com, it was meant for any and every rx-8 owner.

Leesha, your car is hot.

I wish I could have the two-tone interior.. mine's base with the gray/black cloth but still i love it cuz the seats are so comfortable and the ride is so smooth... but If i ever get another rx-8... I need the black and red leather.

Glad a mod said it.

Concentrate on practical and/or aesthetic mods. It costs way too much money to achieve just a few HP so IMO it's not worth it. This car does not respond well to mods as Mazda has done a great job already.

I focused on some aesthetic mods to upgrade the appearance (bodykit, wheels, etc), a drain valve to make oil changes easier, and a K&N air filter that can be cleaned and used over the life of the car. I'll probably stop there. Once you get into it, it's hard to stop.

PS.
I love my car!

When you have physical issues like back problems, knee problems, shoulder problems, its unfortunate but luckily this car is designed for handling not speeding, so as far as I'm concerned I'd buy another AT if given the deal I got on mine.

Just wondering how fast is the automatic tranny on this car? Is it as fast as the DSG found in VAG cars?

No. Sometimes there is noticeable shift lag which can get worse when using the paddle shifters.

shift lag only at low RPM w/ paddle shifters. Higher RPMs, it responds fine. At least in my car.

I have only driven mine when it comes to AT, and I'm wondering if its maybe based on RPM's like i've shifted after the beep and its immediate and others i'll shift just before the beep and its delayed slightly. it kinda seems like hit or miss at times.

I love the new spring/summer avatar look Snizzle.

Drive an AT also - I am perfectly happy with it.

Bought the car for the Rotary and the looks and the way it handles. I have an AT also. I like it.
Learn the power band. Just keep it above 4000 and she's quit content.
