Automatic?

I think the auto, especially having the paddle shifters, gives you the best of both worlds (manual vs. auto). I drive mine in sport mode 100% of the time using the paddle shifters. It allows you to time the shifts at exactly the RPM you want and still leaves one hand free to hold a cup of coffee. Try doing that with a manual!

I like the automatic but it has to be the 07, one reason being is that it's 6 speed. What was mazda thinking when they gave the earlier models only four. I really enjoyed the fact that i can paddle shift, and the down shifts were amazing when making a late apex turn. The auto is not a bad choice and believe more sports cars are going to be paddle based tranny.

People can bust on the automatics all they want, but when I bought this car, I didn't do so to street race. I don't care if your 6-speed manual can get you to 60 mph faster than my automatic, it's not like i'm driving a beater 3-cylinder, my car's not slow, your's is faster, congrats. I love my automatic. It's convinient, great-looking, handles like a charm, quick, fun to drive, and last but not least- it suits me.
