Automatic RX8

Is a automatic RX8 really that slow? Would it be slower than most of the cars on the road?

Hey ! you guys are forgetting the Auto has more torque than the MT. It might not be as fast as the MT but it can tow an RV

Please disregard the hecklers in the audience. Most don't understand the Rotary anyway.

It has modifying potential. My 4 port AT has over 183 RWHP.
That's more than some of the 6 speed 6 ports out there.
It ran a 15.3 in the 1/4 mile with me feathering the throttle at the start and mid way down the track. Bad tune at the time.

So it's not slow except when it's stock.

Damn that's one fast ****! I'm guessing it has much more torque than the 6 ports.

You should do another run and see what happens. If you can burn first gear I'd be surprised, heck most cars cant even do that!

That run was with a 65 shot and a bad tune. It now has the 75 shot and a much better tune. Right now I feel it can do a 1/4 mile in the mid 14's.
And it will smoke the tires in first for a long way.

So do not underestimate the AT 4 Port.

yea but less of a money pit then buying a new car..not to mention there's some novelty value to some of us to have a better performing auto rx8. It's almost like making the car perform the way mazda should have made it perform to begin with..

Always has to be someone in the crowd with the opinion that we AT owners are a bunch of incompetent idiots.
I do not need to be told nor anyone else for that matter that the RX8 AT is any less of a car then the MT.
I do not need someone telling me I should learn how to drive a stick either. I drove my first MT car when I was seven years old. That was in 1966. Do you think I might know how to drive a Manual by now?

I drive an AT. I like the car. I shall continue to do my best to improve the performance of it so when you pull up next to me and go Haha it's just an AT.
Surprise.

I'll be looking for you in Mesa.

I knew this thread would go in this direction eventually which is why I decided not to take it seriously. To the OP - if you want an AT then buy an AT. If you want to drag race an rx8 your looking at the wrong car unless your ready to spend thousands upon thousands.
The AT's still handle great and are quick enough. You can (and will) have fun with one but don't expect 300hp. Easy if I were you I wouldn't even waste my time responding to such ignorance.

I might have flown off the handle a bit. But it's always the same thing said to the AT owners. I'm just a bit tired of it.

Everybody mods the 6 speed. Nobody mods the AT. I like working on the challenging stuff myself.

Any time you want to go for a ride PM me and we could meet some place.
