Automatic RX8

Renesis, this thread started out as a flame war, but it correctly shifted to a constructive discussion regarding the actual differences between MT and AT. You don't like automatics. That is obvious. I actually hate ATs as well. But guess what? I didn't get an AT, so my hate is at an end.
The problem people are having with you is not that you hate ATs, it's that you are extending that to the drivers universally without an actual reason to, and persisting in it. If you wish to join the discussion, then do so constructively. If you have nothing constructive to say then all you are doing is trying to spread disruption and anger. If you don't like the discussion, then ignore this thread. Simple as that. Tons of other people on the boards hate ATs and haven't felt the need to drop in and hate on the owners as well. Please join the others who have ignored the thread.

Well, I have, over the weeks, posted plenty of constructive comments to add to the general discussion of automatics and manuals and their differences/similarities. The problem is that I tend to throw in unnecessary, often rude comments, and for that I take responsibility.
However, I often feel that making factual comments can sometimes be taken as hate. For example if I post something showing my honest lack of understanding for why someone would buy a sports car with a detuned motor and loss of driver interaction when there are plenty of manuals available, (all true statements, not hate in any way shape or form), it can easily come off as a sarcastic diss. Please don't confuse this.

please ignore the 23 yr old who is ripe out of college and thinks he is better than anyone that owns an automatic...
I still don't understand what or who gives you the right to base how others spend their money on a car they want...

a) Intended to spark a fight or annoy people
b) Completely pointless for someone who never intends to buy one
c) Contributes in no way to the discussion going on
It isn't a factual comment, it isn't helpful and it doesn't belong in the thread. If you want to take responsibility for "unnecessary, often rude comments" start with that one. If you don't like automatics and your contribution to the thread ABOUT automatics is saying they suck you are in the wrong thread.

a) They don't know how to drive a stick
b) They had no idea what they're getting into
c) They're lazy
d) Mommy bought the car and wanted you to have an AT
I like to think that it's either a) or d).

lol renesisgenesis has a passionate hate ATs. whatever floats his boat..but its gay to persistently bash something like he is. We all understand the differences, but honestly who cares if someone else chooses to drive a automatic car. It's not like you're forced to..

There are lots of reasons why someone would want an automatic RX-8. If they deal with heavy traffic during their daily commute and want an RX-8, but don't feel like dealing with constant shifts. My wife is getting an automatic because she has only driven automatics and doesn't need the extra power, she just wants a nice sporty car and an auto RX-8 is perfect for her. Compared to her Geo Prism its going to be incredibly fast, and is a balanced attractive sports car. I was going to force her to get a manual, but I had to realize she wants something different out of the car than I do. For me, the speed and performance are key factors, but she will be so happy to have a new car she won't mind if it is a detuned version. And there is nothing wrong with that.
