Bad cat, missfiring, convincing the dealer?

ok, my cat is officially dead, or at least below effective I'd say cuz the CEL came on again today.
I've also been experiencing missfire when either warming up of idling in the traffic tho CEL only shows the cat is bad.

my car sometimes smells burning from under, and when I park my car into my garage and shut it down, I could hear fizzing sound from under the car.
could it be due to unburnt gas into the cat causing the cat to glow red hot thus the smell and fizzing sound?

donno if dealer would change the plugs and coils for free since its only got 6.8k on the clock.

If your CAT truly went bad in less than 7k miles and you really do hear what you think is unburnt fuel in there getting lit up.......then I for sure would want to find out why you aren't getting a complete burn!!!!! Have you ever flooded this car?
How do you know it's mis-firing if all you get is a CAT code? There's a reason I ask this.

You do have a warranty on your car.

Go take it to the dealer and they'll fix it. No questions asked.

Don't even break a sweat for this one.

I bought the car when it had 5k on the clock so I dont really know if its been flooded.
when fully warmed up, I get this deep explosion under the car when idling, what could it be?

You have a Series II RX8 that is still under the comprehensive bumper-to-bumper warranty. Take it in.

You shouldn't have any pops and loud noises when the car is at idle. Take it in and have THEM inspect it and replace parts under the bumper-to-bumper warranty.

yep pops when warming up and idling.
I get a lot of pops when warming up the engine in the morning after the air pump shut off.

ok, after thrashing the car around today, the light went off.
hit redline several times. I been doing redline a day since the day one, but it seems not enough.

Jason: as people here have mentioned already, you have a warranty use it.
There is no "convincing" required.
If your cat is bad, they'll know when they drop it
if you're misfiring the PCM will most likely have stored codes and the ignition coils will fail inspection

problem solved.
