Bad day in Denver

Bad day in Denver
So I was driving home from my vacation and passing through Denver, and right when I get to I-25 N and about 120th street I pass by this place called boondocks. ( A family fun center). And out of nowhere BAM!! my windshield bust openand pieces of glass come crashing into my car. turns out some 11 year old kid decided to hit a golf ball into the freeway. So me doing about 85 (flow of traffic at this time) made a pretty big impact. There is a ton of glass on the inside. If I would have swerved even a little there would have been a huge accident, as it was bumper to bumper. This kid could have killed my wife and me. Well here is a pic of what it did. The best pasrt is our windshiled is a dealer only buy so it is going to take a week for a window to even get here.

we are going after the kids parents for all damages and time lost. As far as the traffic, it gets REALLY crazy going through that part of denver at that time. There is like 5-8 feet between cars, and I was in the middle lane and just going with traffic.

Good for you. I'm sick of irresponsible kids.
Denver traffic was sucktastic when I lived there in 1995/96, I can't imagine how bad it is now. The complete lack of access/frontage roads amazed me.

Geez... that's horrible....
SikRedRX-8, if you don't mind, can you tell me how you managed to track down the kid and get his parents to pay for the damages ? Just that people always seems to be get away from these things so I'm just wanted to know. Thanks.

I am so glad you guys are okay. A kid killed someone here in Philly with a similar stunt. I don't know what is wrong with people, the kid should have charges against him. I am not saying he should go to juvy or jail, but he needs to be really taught a lesson.

Okay, right when it happened my wife looked up and saw the Boondocks sign and minigolf course right off the freeway. So she called 1-411 right away and got the number. Then she got ahold of the GM there and explained what had just happened. Well chances are there was only 3 kids playing golf. So he said he walked up to them and asked who just hit the ball into the freeway. No one said anything, so then he asked to see their golfballs they checked out, and one kid was missing his. So then the kid broke down and said he did it. (but that it was an accident, yeah right there is like a 6 foot fence and it is MINI GOLF!!.) So the GM calls us back and tells us he has the kid and his mom there. So we finally get back there and he tells us she is accepting all responibilty. At this point I am tired of driving and want to get back home asap, which is still like 12 hours away. So I say give me your info, and 50 bucks for my deducatable, and took pictures of everything including the sign that says you can criminaly prosecuted for your behavore on the course. And then called the police for a report. So i taped up the window and drove on. I have already called my insurance and they are going after them financially, and we are going to prosue them ciminally and financially for time lost. I just want that kid to realize how serious this was, and lots of people could have easily been killed.

Glad everyone was o.k. The 8 will be like brand new when fixed so thats all good.
Some kids here in Sydney have been going to highway overpasses and dropping bricks through peoples windscreens as they went past.
I witnessed something like this when i was in my fathers work van, the rock fell short and hit the front number plate. i quickly turned out of the next exit to trap them as i knew exactly where they were but it was to late as the van was slow.
I dont know whats wrong with these kids.. they get away with everything.. I just look at my little cousins how much they get away with swearing, rude manners etc i remember if that was me i would have copped it
Regards

I was most worried about the accident that would have occured had I swerved even a little bit. The windshield is strong but if you even apply the smallest presure to it, it starts to fall in and want to give. So I bet the wipers would even cave it in if you turn them on. I didn't realize what a golf ball can do at about 85 mph.
