The G35 is one of the most beautiful cars on the road. Good power. And on an open road course it has the potential to go as fast if not faster than the 8 because the 8 doesnt have as much power to pull on the straights.

Someone once said that a car that is faster on the fast parts of the track is quicker than a car that is only faster on the slow parts of the track.....

Yea, I am magazine bench racing with the above. But look at the trap speeds in the quarter mile to get a sense of what I am talking about. The 8 traps anywhere from 93 to 96 or so. The G35 (manual) traps about 100 mph. Trap speed will give you a rough guide to real power.

No this isnt a hit against the 8. The RX8 is the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. It's just not for everyone.

I don't do much racing but I don't think I agree.

Yes the RX8 is slower at straight-a-ways, it can enter & leave turns quicker than the G35 & stay in a powerband. Though the G35 might catch after each corner, the RX8 will have the advantage. A good example of this I saw on TV, where they raced a Lambo & an Evo. The Lambo pulled like crazy on the start & took the lead, but the Evo could enter/exit quick & soon caught up with the Lambo, & at one of the last turns was so on the guys a$$ the Lambo spun out & on went the Evo.

Even the coupe? I admit I really like the G35. It looks nice, the interior is a bit nicer as I remember (been a while though) and it's pretty quick. I still would take my 8 over the G35 any day, but it's a good car still. Now, the G37... that might be a different story, though I'm thinking I'd stick with the 8... maybe

Yeah i got rid my rx8 for the same problem. Renesis is great when its working, but i found that status far and few inbetween, so i got rid it and got a mini cooper s jcw. now im smoking rx8's left and right. just tonight i saw an rx8 delivering pizzas!! what a sad sad sight!?!

Uhm, why would you come to an RX-8 forum and say something like this? The G35 is a good car, but it's a very DIFFERENT type of car. The G35 is significantly compromised in nature, being from a luxury car manufacturer. Again i'm not saying it's at all bad, but i doubt you were ever considering a serious sports car in the first place if you went with the G35.
