Bad thing
So its really bad to rush in the morning on very little sleep. I learned this the hard way. So, I'm leaving my house, get in the car, start it, foot off the clutch and BAM! I had forgotten to make sure it was in neutral. Through the fence I went. Chain Link fence 1, RX8 0!
I learned three things today:
How to fix a chain link fence
Always remember to check that the car isn't in gear after/when starting
Park further away from the fence.
Ok now I know its comming, i'm ready for insults, pics when I get home. Luckily only thing it did was stress the front bumper and crack the paint and flake some off, so i'll be getting it repainted soon.

Yeah apparently last night was like the first time i've left the car in gear after turning it off. Ah well, nothing i can do about it now. I'm just glad it didn't break anything other than chipping the paint. It could easily be way more $$$ to fix it than just repainting the bumper if it hadn't been raining the last few days. If the dirt around the post wasn't all mud I coulda probably been looking at alot more damage.

so tell us... how DOES one fix a chain link fence?
side question: how many people here DO leave their car in gear?
- I do.

I leave it in gear sometimes but i just forgot to take it out of gear this morning.
As for fixing the fence, it involved bending the fence post back to where it should be, putting the horizontal bar w/ the cap back on the top of said previously bent post, putting the end of the horizontal bar back in the cap at the end post. then bending wire around the bar and posts to keep the chain link on the fence posts. considering all the stuff holding the chain link to the poles managed to come loose and or break off.

No way i'm going through insurance, the paint shouldn't be too much, and is probably alot less than my deductable. as for the fence, we're getting a new one anyway, and its as fixed as its going to get. doesn't really look like anything happened to it.
And no the engine didn't flood. and every time it has flooded i've been able to get it to start.
