That was great to read, so despite the 8 being considered a 4 door coupe.. they still have a high(er) insurance than other 4 door sedans?

Not really that much, I am paying extremely less than when I had a civic. At that point I was younger. Now I am 33 with great credit and paying less than $40 a month for full coverage.. My wife wrote it and made sure that all the bases were covered and I am not getting any discounts.

I had a brief conversation with her before writing it. She sounded like it wasnt set in stone or something. I can clarify with her later if you want. She had a long day and I didnt want to talk her ear off about her work.

If you wouldn't mind, I would just like to get an understanding of what it is that makes my insurance high.
I called them and they told me approx. $150 a month for full coverage.. I believe my age is the biggest factor here. That figure is after my multi-car discount, good student discount, and driving school discount.
I have USAA, so I know that this is the best rate possible for me. When the telemarketers call me from other insurance providers, they give up once I tell them I have USAA
.. What is advanced keyless entry by the way? Whats the difference from normal keyless entry?

Just curious PHXYJ, you gonna keep the Jeep?
I almost traded mine in but they were only gonna give me $1500 for it. I might have been able to get a little more for it selling it privately but not much so I decided to hold on it for awhile. At this point I'm glad I did, I've taken it four-wheeling and camping several times since I bought my 8. Honestly those trips alone were worth the $1500. Now I'm pretty sure I'm gonna refurbish it once I have money to spare and keep it as a weekend warrior.
Don't get me wrong I don't miss driving the Jeep as a daily driver one bit, but theres still plenty of fun to be had with it. I'm just suggesting you might want to consider holding on to yours.

I have every intention of holding on to it.. I will continue to wheel the crap out of it with the AZVJC. I can get around 4500 for it if I sold it private party. I would rather continue to wheel it and build it myself. Its pretty capable as it sits now, but I have plans for it in the far future.
BlackRX82006.. Thanks! Would be greatly appreciated!

More info on insurance. Talked to the wife and she said that even an insurance agent would have a hard time telling you about color being a factor. See, all the agent does is types the VIN into their insurances data base program, like lets say Farmers insurance's along with your social security number. The Vin obviously shows if the car is high performance, how many doors, what year, make, model. The SSN goes into the database program and pulls the persons history, like age, married, credit, any claims against you, how long youve lived at one residence, if you switch insurance companies alot.
So the agent only types in the VIN, not the color, and the agent can assume or not assume that the ones who created the program have considered color. The agent cant boost your premium if he sees your color of car or thinks you look like a punk.
Plus the agent has no clue about your personal history since he only types in your SSN. The factors of credit, driving history, age, and type of car can vary from one insurance company to another so one company can care less about ones driving history compared to another insurance agent. Same with age, some are more forgiving with the age. The agents also dont have a voice in the rates. They dont make them, the higher ups do and the prices fluctuate especially if there are lots of claims from different people causing the rates to sky rocket.
So in my unprofessional opinion. With what my wife has told me, how can you consider color with only a VIN number since people can easily just repaint their car from Blue to Red.
My wife has worked for two insurance agents and said they worked the same as far as just filling in a couple questions and sending into the program for a rate.
So also dont call up asking what an agent thinks your rate will be if you bought a certain kind of car since they have no clue because it takes more than what kind of car it is to tell you your rates.
Hoped this clarified insurance questions and remember each agency is different and so will the rates. If your young or maybe around 24 or less. Expect to pay quite a bit more than someone maybe 25 or more. I am 33 with awesome full coverage and drive an 04 RX8 paying about $39 a month and was pretty much paying close to that but not quite when I bought it new and almost 27 years of age.
