Best pulleys to get?

Starting to mod out a RX-8 that I bought used. Thought I'd start by replacing the pulleys.

Any recommendations....?

Pulleys are a lousy 'upgrade' for this car, if you plan to stay NA then consider an AccessPORT, ignition upgrade, and midpipe if you want more power, but the gain will probably only get you to about 200 whp. The axial flow short throw shifter is also a nice and inexpensive upgrade. The best upgrade you can get is getting high quality tires imo.

No, their replies are from experience. Pulleys don't gain anything in horsepower. And, the bling factor is covered either by a hood or the engine cover.

You I don't have a problem with... The others well....

I live in the D.... as in Detroit. As in Dream Cruise...as in every year 1.5 million or more annual visitors come to the largest muscle car event in the world. AS....in I have an Impala that that weights over 4 grand that does 10.6 seconds in a quarter with over 900 hp

yep... I bought this Ricer ( RX8) to see what I can do.... I'm impressed with the design and have gotten fired up about the car. Yea I'm taking **** from my friends! LOL... the last thing I expected was **** from a bunch of ricers themselves... Take note:n The rotary motor I find very interesting...... and plan to delve into it IMO its a sweet engine, love the performance to weight ratio.....

Come on people... I'm opening up to the import scene and trying to show respect

and.......OK I get it, I'll use the search engine....

One thing you could do is quit calling us all ricers.

Nice reply as in I gave you a detailed list of the best upgrades for the car in a polite and concise fashion despite the fact that you are a lazy noob who won't search before making a post?

Detroit has higher standards? ......for what? Car quality? Enjoy that 22% unemployment rate in Detroit due to the high standards American car manufacturers have had for years.

Also, since you seem to be confused... an import car from Japan is not a "ricer". There are quite a number of riced out domestic cars as well. And before you bother telling me that I don't know anything about American muscle, my previous two cars were a fully restored '73 Stingray Corvette with a modified small block, and a modded '94 Z28. Show some respect when you go to a new board and stop being a dick, there is a LOT of good information here about your new car if you are willing to look for it.

All I ever see in Wichita. They paint their car and put a big exhaust on it, then try to race everyone. Paint doesn't make your car faster.

First, you will not gain much hp from the standard mods that most people do(ie headers, exhaust, CAI...)

You really think the RX8 is a "ricer"

I guess Detroits standards are so "high" that an RX8 is a ricer their.

The reason you are getting **** from your ricer friends is because it isn't a ricer and you don't fit in with them. You can make it a ricer by adding a pointless short ram air intake, yellow paint, rediculous rims, a super bee looking spoiler, a fart can exhaust, hideous body kit, and your pulleys. Then you would be a ricer and fit in with your friends.

Pulley set = rice

What is the definition of rice you ask?

RICE: Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements, that's right they're all cosmetics.

Now, go shoot yourself and die.

Heh, those are functional... though I can't say much about the clear corners, they just look so sexy.

Not really functional on an 8 if youre NA. All NA'ers are ricers woot lol. I keep going to buy clears and then I don't because I need to enter in all my information and I'm too lazy

CAI, light rims, exhaust, headers and midpipes are all basically performance modifications. You might not gain a lot of hp from them, but its hardly cosmetic. You don't exactly get to show off your new header or midpipe to most people unless you are running them over... sure, 20'' chrome rims are not going to be a performance mod, but some nice light Enkei or Rays rims probably are.

Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements is exactly correct. Having tons of sponsor decals on your DD Civic is rice, having sponsor decals on your sponsored track car isn't. A huge GT wing on your Toyota Corolla is rice, having it on a GT car isn't... etc.

A lot of people, especially domestic owners think any Japan import is a "ricer" but think a Mustang with orange polka dots, massive carbon fiber splitter and GT wing with a VTEC logo is cool. I don't understand people sometimes. Although the import and domestic scenes and cars are very different in style there are awesome cars in both. I will own another Corvette someday, I've always loved them. I also drool over restored '69 Camaros and a part of me will never stop loving the sound of an uncorked V8. That doesn't mean I don't feel the same way about a 750 awhp Evo or a slick RX-7 or RX-8.

In the end though, if you are going to a new forum, jumping on there with no information, being lazy and refusing to search on basic crap, and then insulting the people on the forum, it isn't really a good way to get welcomed into the group of people who have found something special in the RX-8, regardless of what other cars they like.

Having a 4,000 pound car making 900 makes you cool? The only reason your impala has to make some much hp is to lug that useless weight around. Good luck trying to take a turn without flipping over. And since when is a rx8 a ricer. Hell most of us here dont mod our car with useless stuff. Here the wikipedia definition of a "ricer"

"More contemporary use of the term rice burner, along with the prefix ricer, has taken on an alternate pejorative meaning for an automobile that has been modified to give impression of high performance, but does not necessarily have any high-performance capabilities. This practice is in direct contrast to the "stealth" or "sleeper" style of automotive modification, where a vehicle may have major performance modifications, but the appearance remains similar to that of a stock model. In this manner, the appellation can apply to any vehicle regardless of country of origin. The most commonly modified cars are sport compacts, but the term can apply to any class of vehicle, including trucks."

And american cars can be more ricer than imports.
