We went to MIR(maryland international raceway) where do you live in nova? i was looking for another guy with an 8 around here.. if you wana tag along some time i think we are renting out the track within the next two weeks for like 8 hours.. 100$ per car all you can race.
also yea i made this thread a while back, and never made it to the track till now.. ive done much better on the street but just need to practice my launching on the track, it was very slippery.. and need to feather the clutch..

damn guys so i took my baby to the dragstrip for the first time and bombed really badly... car is stock except for size 40 tires in rear, and intake.. but i need to replace my filter its very dirty i realized too late
i think since i was nervous i couldnt think straight and dropped the clutch every time... wheels kept spinning all through first gear... and my reaction time sucked.. but here are the 3 runs i had, my best was 16.14 how bad is this???
run:-----1------2--------3 ( note first run i launched at 6krpm second run at 3krpm and third at 2krpm)
rt-------.84----.57-----.61
60'-----2.8----2.6------2.5
330----7.1----7.0-----6.9
1/8----10.7---10.6---10.5
mph---68.8---69.1---76.7
1/4----16.4---16.2---16.1
mph---85.3---85.9---88.2

Not as easy as it looks, is it? LOL!
Yah, you have to learn to completely chill out... it's very natural to get amped to the point youre not listening and feeling what the car is doing.
First run at the strip, I literally imagine I'm talking off from a typical stop at a stoplight. Forget about the reaction time, or who youre racing. Just a get a run in, and concentrate on your shift points. Forget about ET, just see how your car is running by looking at the trap. If you're not trapping worth a damn, change your shift points, and try again with a "moderately hard street start" without dumping the clutch. Once you get your trap up, then start fighting for the launch and chasing 60ft. Each time you run this way, youre incrementally figuring out the track conditions, and you'll be able make a harder and better launch because you're giving your brain the information it needs.
So, don't go out there and launch like a mad man the first run. You might see the "seasoned vets" be able to do it, but they probably have a 100+ passes on the track and know it like the backs of their hands. I mean, you drop the clutch, spin through first and make a big show, but everybody that's looking at you just sees the 16 second run on the board at the end of the track. Be cool, chill out, make sure you can trap over 90mph before going after a bigger launch. If you can't trap 90+ mph, then you have no chance of getting your car into the low 15, high 14 range, regardless of how you launch.
It's weird relationship between trap and ET, but you have to understand it, and get a feel for it. Hope this helps. Keep trying!
