TX BHR Fuel Pump Retaining Ring Removal Tool

So I received the BHR fuel pump removal tool and thought I would make a quick vid showing how easy it works. This is on a 2009 R3 that has never had the fuel pump retaining ring removed. I also have a custom tool for the RX-8 that was made by partsgroup.com that has worked well for me for a couple of years but it does chew up the ring a bit so you have to be careful and it is a rather large steel contraption so it's not very light and is not easily stored in the toolbox. The BHR tool fits nicely in the tool box and is light, billet aluminum.

Well you can't just buy the filter sock that I know of. But you can clean yours. But if your car is high mileage I recommend just replacing the whole assembly.

I replaced one not too long ago for a local guy and we were surprised that the Airtex brand pump we got from advanced auto was actually a brand new OEM Aaram pump assembly when we openened the box so I guess they are the same company or something. Advance Auto parts also has a $50.00 off discount code you can use online.

Better alternative for the same price and can be used on multiple applications. Mazda SST# 49-F042-001.

In-Tank Fuel Pump Lid Remover: Mazdaspeed MZR DISI

Needly to say though, the BHR unit is a nice peice.

^That part isn't for sale, its rented. You've got to send it back.

Information:
This is a Mazda OEM tool and is the original part to remove the lid off of the in-tank fuel pump. Please see manufacturer's instructions before use of this part.

Terms:

Shipping the lid remover to the customer is selected by the customer at checkout.
A prepaid return shipping label is included with the rental to make return shipping hassle free.
The billing credit card will be authorized for $150.00, upon rental return and inspection, the authorization is canceled and the $49 plus shipping will only remain as charged.
The customer is responsible for any damage to the rental unit.
The customer is responsible for returning the rental unit within 10 business days.
Each additional day the rental is late, a $15/day fee accrues.
On the other hand you own the BHR one once you pay for it. There are allot of options for the tool really, we use nearly identical screw caps as allot of Fords (one of the few hints at Mazda being partnered with Ford when they first made the 8).

Yeah and I have tried the one you rent from autozone and it sucks big time, it is real hard on the tabs. A ring that has never been removed is really on there so broken tabs are common with a tool that doesn't grab the tabs well. The BHR unit is purpose built so it grabs the tab firmly. I can't wait to use it on one that has never been removed that has some years on it.

Sorry I didnt notice it was just for rental. I figured it was quite cheap, seen as I payed $125 for mine when working at Mazda. Never had it wreck a locking ring in all the years.
