biggest noob question ever..
ok so ive had my rx8 for about 3 weeks now(black 04 AT) and i love it, and im new to the entire automotive world lol. im wondering how ridiculous the idea is of tryin to upgrade from the 4 speed AT to the newer 6 speed AT. or even to a 6 speed MT but that seems like it would be WAY to much work. i dunno just thinkin out loud...well not out..you know.

Well there seems to be a lot of people buying AT out there. I would enjoy it until next summer, save a bit of money while making payments (if you can), and then sell it next year. For sure somebody who doesn't drive AT and just wants a cool car will buy it.

Hi, I am tajabaho1, I am telling u personal experience, trade in unless you know how to do it yourself and have all the parts, do a trade in, or either just not do it yet, eat, pay your rent, and manage to get those electricity and water bills payed

Making do with a 4-speed AT
I've driven my 2004 AT (first at my dealership) for over four years, including laps on Virginia International Raceway in driving school. The car's handling and brakes could make good use of more gears and power, but it gives satisfaction as is. The best place to be is in second at around 5,000 rpm -- 53 mph -- to 7,500 redline -- almost 80. If you need to keep accelerating, dropping into third puts you around 5,000 again. Of course, I'm talking about using the paddles or shifter lever to choose gears manually. Don't expect to beat out performance cars that are trying to out-accelerate you, but you can have some fun. It cruises adequately at revs down to 2,000, but you need to double that or more to see action.
