Blind Spot

There was a thread that someone wrote regarding the blind spot when changing lanes in an RX8.

Personally, I find that it takes just a bit of getting used to. Personally for me it took about a good 3 to maybe 3.5 hours of driving time and getting used to the 8.

I would like to ask the following question:

Instead of turning your head to check the blind spot do you lean forward and use your side rear view mirrors to check the blind spot. I've personally tried this at times and I find it to work for me rather well. Is there anyone else doing this?
