Blower Fan***

I brought in my 8 for the recalls and mentioned that my blower fan was running like crazy after the car was shut off. It won't run for a couple of minutes after the car is shut off, it runs for a long time. My 6s did the same thing and had to be repaired. I can turn it off, leave it in the garage and come out 15 minutes later and it's still running. The other day I was at the mall and came back out and it was still going.
I know it is supposed to run for a bit as that is the purpose of the fan but not this long.

I got the recall work done and they told me that they could not reproduce the blower fan for over 2 minutes. Of course this was probably done once and the car was not fully warmed up enough. Even the service guy saw it constantly running when I dropped it off yesterday. I told them that I have it run all the time and it is a way of life with this car for me to turn off 8, insert key back into 8, turn to ACC and then off and then fan shuts off. I have to do this every time or it will run forever. He said the technician said that he has seen some run for as long as 45 minutes and that can be normal (insert WTF flag here). I told him that I was concerned with battery drainage on an already weak battery to begin with. His answer? "Well, you do have Mazda Roadside Assistance..."

I told him that there would be hell to pay if I got stranded due to this and I didn't buy a new car to have to worry about sticking the key back in the car to shut off the fan every time. I went and picked up my 8 and talked to the salesguy who sold me the 8. He hooked me up with the Service Manager and we discussed it. He was very nice and said that there is something that is being looked at with Mazda concerning this and sending off ECM's to California (?). He said he admitted he knew nothing about it but would get back to me because he had to make several phone calls and would call me in two days max. He also gave me his direct number. Overall the dealership was very nice-I just want this problem fixed. Does anyone else have a run-on fan? I know that they are supposed to run awhile but 45 minutes regularly? I just don't see it. I can't imagine our weak batteries handling that.

Do you cool your car before shut off?
When I get to within 2 miles of my home /office I ease off the beep and heavy braking. My fan stays on for like a max of 2 minutes after exit.

I have that problem on and off. It never comes on after hard driving though. It will come on if I go on a long trip and will stay on a good while. But it doesn't do it very often.

Mine has only come on 1 time and it was cool out and I wasn't driving it hard. Had me wondering why it even came on. Went outside after dropping stuff off in the house and it wasn't running anymore.

I did notice a couple of days ago that it came on when I went back outside to check my mileage. Only came on when the key was in the ACC position. Believe it was because the AC was on.

It would be nice if it worked like my Ninja. Park it and watch the temp gauge go up as it gets hotter from not moving and no coolant circ. When it hits 'H' it comes on and runs till it's below 'H' again then heats back up and turns back on. Usually 3 cycles for a couple of minutes is all it needs to stay below 'H'.

At least there is a rhyme and reason that way.

Check to make sure you coolant is topped off. I had the radiator fan stay on after shutdown. I topped the coolant reservoir off and the fan does not run after shutdown.
