Blown engine

Mine started shutting off at red lights, cranked sluggishly, noticably lost power after about 7500 RPM +/- and just sounded like it was working really hard and straining to make speed. Any of you have similar symptoms?

That's on the list. I want to give Mazda a chance to reply. I am supposed to have an answer by the end of the week. I have a really good dealer and mechanic pulling for me on this one. They have the history on the car (they have done the majority of the work on it), know how the car is kept up, and they have a good report with the regional service DM....so, I'm down, but not totally out. If they say "no" I move on, get it fixed and then chase reimbursement. Oh trust me...I won't let this die......for the sake of all of us, I won't let this die.......

If you are under warranty I would take it in.

I'm not advocating a rush to sue, just to be clear.
I just think that there may be a design defect in the Renesis (can't be sure until actual raw data can be gleaned on rates of failure as a %), and that Mazda may have trouble defending claims just because the motor is out of warranty.
Also, under most state consumer laws applicable to auto defects, if an auto company loses a case, they have to pay your attorney fees by statute.
Hopefully, Mazda will take care of its customers always.

OK I give........what is so special about Mark? If he's not part of the SE regional rep group, who is he to me? And, if he's not in my region and it would help to get in touch with him, how do I?
Thx Zoom

Brillo PM'd....thanks in advance guys! I'm all for working this from all angles any way I can. Loosely assuming Mazda does step up to the plate Sutherlin Mazda in Buford, GA will be doing the work. They have done the rest of the major work along with Jim Ellis in Marietta, GA. So if this Mark guys has any pull at Sutherlin.....he will be my new best friend....and the next few rounds of Blue Label are all on me.......

Zoom,
I just found out the Regional for Sutherlin is Bob White.......That's all the info I have. He is in Texas right now at some Mazda regional(s) meeting and should be out early Friday am. That's when we hope to get an answer on whether or not he will even consider it. Then I'll have to get the car to Sutherlin from Charlie's and hope for the best.....
Here is/are the concerns and thoughts about all of this on the GARX8 Club site:
http://garx8club.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1340
Here's a concern....I was looking back last night at all of the work I have had done at the dealers for hard start/sluggish/pinging issues. I got lots of plugs replaced, coils replaced, run gas cleaner through the system recommendations....but not once in over 40k miles of dealing with these issues was a compression test ever done by the dealer......hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I can't help but wonder if that would had caught this waaaaaaaaaaaaay sooner than the failure. Like I stated, the motor didn't grenade, the front rotor just dropped compression...and not like a an apex seal leaving town.....the compression was a stable 4.x on all three sides. Had a apex seal gone, only would side would register stable.

Its so funny, when someone has an engine problem thread, so many other forum members hop on the band wagon with "Oh no, I have no power and 58K on my car, my engine is bad too!!!" NOO, you are just scared that your engine will fail after 60K when the warranty is gone so at 58K if you stall your car at a stop light, the engine is bad.
Usually a power loss at 55-60K is an ignition system issue (plugs, coils, wires) or a bad cat.
To the OP. Hope it all works out for ya brother.

How's the new MX-5, so far? I've never seen a red PRHT, you ought to post some pics.
