Question Blue or Black 8 & Why?

I can't choose!!! I love both colors and been debating them for months upon months. Now I'm ready to make a deal, but I can't decide which color to get.

If some of you can post why you chose your blue or black 8, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks,
Mike

Had a black car before this car. Didn't want black again. Love the color blue, especially Winning Blue. Would actually have liked the X-Men car blue. Black shows more as far as scratches and the like.

IMO black looks better but it's high maintenance that is why a lot of people avoid it. Blue just didn't do it for me.

I got the black one - because to me, sports cars should either be red, or black. I didn't want the speeding tickets that come with a red one... Black is a color that signifies danger, mystery, sophistication. It also signifies working five times harder to keep it looking good - it shows every fleck of dirt and magnifies it.
That being said, the blue is a great color. Of all the colors, I like seeing that one on the road the best - the car looks great, it stands out,and that color blue is so noticeably exclusive to the 8 that you can recognize one on the road a mle away.
Also, blue is the color of a first place ribbon (I show dogs) so in my mind it really is WINNING blue!

Right now, I don't think I will have the time to maintain a black car. I live in an apartment and wouldn't be able to wash it without going to a carwash and throwin down some money every week. Blah.

I'm leaning blue now, but damn, black is SHARP when well kept. Ahhhhhhh.

BTW Thanks for all the responses so far!

I have a black 8 and in all honesty, if they had a blue equipped like I wanted then I would have gone for the blue. It really is hard work keeping the black 8 clean. After it rains (and it can be parked) it's dirty, during the pollen season it's dirty, and if I just do regular driving (moreso in this area) it's dirty. It's a labor of love though.

black = high mantainence - have one myself. FIrst black car. its a pain. but it looks good. Hides curves.
Blue - not a fan of winning blue. Strato mica blue is a totally different story.

2005 model is coming out wit white. I THINK thats the best. Easier to take care of than black. And looks great!

While I pre-ordered my Winning Blue, my preference was Brilliant Black.

That said, I knew I would be bugged about how it looked between washings, since I've owned a black vehicle before.

The blue has been no disappointment.

Some say black doesnt show off the body as well as "lighter" colors. I agree somewhat, but definitely when seeing it at night.

The Blue apparently gets alot of attention. I do wish it was a slightly darker blue, but I think I'm leaning this direction.

hmmm

Between the two, I'd go for blue only because black on the RX-8 hides it's features more than it accentuates them.

Silver is a classic sports car color and it's great if you want a monochromatic color scheme since the stock wheel rims are the same silver color.

I'd have gone with blue if they had it with the options I wanted and there was a blue leather trim option.

As others have noted - the Mazda 6 series has some very impressive colors we can't get on the RX-8, mainly the volcano red, the mica blue, and the burnt orange.

I had a hard time choosingbetween blue and black. WYen I got to dealer, there was a sunlight silver one there also, and that looked very sharp. Ultimately I chose black, but I am having a hard time keeping it looking good. It involves more cleaning care then I can provide, so my rx8 only looks good about one day out of every two weeks. I'm gonna try and find more time to clean it. I truly love the color, but when trade in time fomrs in 2007 or 2008, I will likely be getting a different color rx8, mainly so I can have variety and feel like I got a new car, rather then trade it in for the same thing. I'm looking forward to a white mazdaspeed rx8 in 2007 as my next vehicle to replace this one.

I bought the Winning BLue because I love blue. I can't imagine having another color. But the Black is impressive, a real eye catcher. Agressive looking: makes the RX-8 look like a $40,000 car. The best looking color.

I didn't buy the black because of the hot summers in Southern California and the problems keeping black clean. But I wouldn't have been unhappy to own a black.

Just picked up my 8 tonight...go with the black you won't be sorry, with a car like this no matter what color you get you are going to want to wash every other second anyway....Black is the way to go...I was undecided for the longest time, at first i wanted yellow, then red, then blue, finally went with black....Trust me you won't regret it...just that feel of getting behind that wheel it really won't matter what color the outside it...but go with the black....It's hot!

I was goingto go w/blue also butinstead went w/Titanium b/c I really like Titanium and its low maintainence. Blue doesnt look that good inmy opinion when its not very clean. If I werentsuch a lazy ******* and I could clean the car threetimes a week I definitely would have gotten blue

Don't have my 8 yet, but wanted to contribute. I was hoping
the 05 model would have that dark mazdaspeed blue, that
would be the color I'd pick, but living in TX most of my life I shy
away from black, but the black is sweet. My opinion, roll with the
blue.

I like dark colors. I would only take the 'x-men' RX-8 blue, which is more like black. I think Winning blue isn't dark enough and I knew I wasn't gonna like it, so black was the choice.

Everyone loves and compliments my Winning Blue.

Honestly, if not for the maintenance/cleaning issues, I would've gotten black, but I knew it would look terrible most of the time. I love the blue and have not been disappointed at all with it. Even when a little dirty or dusty, the blue looks OK. Can't say that about black.

I had a black car before this one (Integra). Even with everything people say/said I think black is the best color and so I bought another black car. I LIKE other colors. I love red and blue and even green but my thought was I might get tired of those colors but I will never get tired of the classic black. If you get the black be prepared to wash it more than once a month (every week is probably ideal especially if you park outside most of the time). With my last car I thought I should've gotten the blue color because it was more unique and everyone had the black, white, red etc. This car is unique enough as it is, I'm not worried about it becoming another 'honda' in the crowd, at least not for quite awhile. :D If you want to be a little more unique I think less people (at least on here) have blue.

The Black is the hottest color hands down. Downside, you'll be cleanning it everyday. The Blue is a great color. Upside, you won't have to clean it everyday. I went with the black before knowing this. Now, I'm not sure if I picked the right color. But either way, you are getting an RX-8; you can't go wrong with that. Good luck.

Its got to be black.
Black is THE best colour for sports car.
They might be hard work to keep clean, but once it is, the 8 looks BRILLIANT and it is definately the best colour to show off the 8.

It is true that black is hard to keep clean,
but the upside is that it's easier to match the paint and to touch up paint chips.

I got my chips touched up really nice, better than in my previous car (chameleon blue-green).

I think that is because "black hides the lines" including the lines where you put the chip-repairing paint on.
