Bogus Charges ???? Or Not

Maybe someone can answer this for me {Searching here & google didn't turn up anything}

Considering a RX8 purchase in NJ {I left a credit card deposit on the car, because I need to find out a few things before I fully commit}

Before I begin.

#1. I don't live in Philadelphia
#2. The dealership isn't in Philadelphia

Are these valid charges ?

Transportation fee
Philadelphia assessment
Warranty Retail Parts recovery

Thanks

1.) I've only ever seen a transportation fee
2.) They can charge you whatever they want, if you signed anything saying you would pay it
3.) All of those charges are negotiable. Walk away if you can't come to an agreement.

Let me get this straight.........the car is not located in Philly or even Pennsylvania and they are trying to charge you for a "philadelphia assessment"? that doesn't make any sense. Sounds bogus to me.

Like corners said, if they insist on charging you for these three, tell them the deal is off. I guarantee you if you tell them that, they get rid of those fees on the spot

Maybe Philadelphia is the name of the guy that did the assessment...

Since the car or the dealership isn't in PA the only thing I can think of is that the car is possibly registered in PA? Could have been a transfer from another dealership location or another dealership all together.

I would strongly suggest an detailed explanation of the charges before you sign anything.

Yeah those "Philadelphia and Warranty Retail parts recovery" charges sound a little suspicious.

I bought my 8 back in February and placed a security deposit (w/ a CC on over the phone) on the exact car I wanted without having seen it in person. Bought the car 3 weeks later. I didn't have those last 2 charges you mentioned, but I did have the usual destination & dealer fees (somewhere around $300-700 total, don't remember exactly).

Definitely ask the dealer to explain, they should be helpful since you have a vested interest in the car (but can still walk away without too much of a loss).

Let me clarify something

These additional charges were on the invoice and ultimately if I don't object, they will be passed on to me as part of the accumulated cost .............. so before I get to the stage of ultimatum, I, at the very least wanted to investigate what exactly these charges are and who should {If they are valid} be responsible for paying them.

Thanks Guys
