VA bought RX8 today

Bought a 2006 RX8 today as my first car!

I didn't do the compression test because the car can have a good cold start and the dealer offers a 1 year or 12000 miles warranty.
Car runs great, try to hit 8000 rpm on the road.
The engine sounds different, but I like the sound.

Update: There is something wrong with the engine coolant level warning light. The light will on for like 10 minutes and then turned off. The dealer checked the coolant reservoir and told me I don't need to be worried about it. They refilled the coolant reservoir and there is no leaking. They told me there is something wrong with the sensor, and they will order one and change it.

Well, you took a chance on not having the compression test done, but you have warranty on it, so its okay i guess. Anyway, pics or it didn't happen...

Cold starts are not the problem with compression, it is hot starts.

Unless you have driven an rx8 you know has good compression it can be hard to know if this one is good or not just by the feel.

Hot starts also works fine. They give me a 1 year and 12 months warranty, and the engine still under the 8 year / 100000 miles warranty, I think I will be fine. Thank you!

Coolant level sensor is inside the bottle and is a very common issue with higher mile rx8s. There's not much you can do about it without replacing the entire bottle, or just unplugging the sensor.

This (oddly enough my rx8 barely had 50k miles and had the light come on)
even then i still managed to have the light come on (checked to make sure my coolant was right) i ended up just not caring about it in the end.

Would still do the compression test before your warranty runs out (way earlier).
