Brake and DSC/TSC indicator problem

Hi guys, I got my RX8 a couple months ago and it goes well so far.
But there are some problems:
First, there is harsh sound when I depress brake pedal at low speed (just before car stopped). Is there anything wrong with my car?

Second, the TSC/DSC keep illuminating these days. I try to push the DSC off button but there is no response. Is there any safe consideration for this issue? I plan to have a trip this weekrend and may drive a long distance. Should I take my car to dealer first?

Thank you!

The DSC/TCS lights were an issue I had when I got mine. I couldn't find anyone else with my symptoms. Apparently, it is pretty rare, but was caused by a faulty steering position sensor in the steering column. About $310 for the sensor, and 2.5 hours of labor for install. = About $500. But that was my case. Have your dealership check it out, as yours may be different.

Hello and welcome to the club!

What year is your 8 and how many miles are on it? Cars these days have brake wear indicators on the front brakes. The sound could be the indicators telling you its time to change the pads.
Did your disconnect the battery / jump start the car recently? If so you have to reset the DSC. That is explained in the owners manual. I will post that page later.

Yes. He's right. I forgot about this. My case was for when this "resetting" process failed, and the problem persisted. Definitely try it first.

Thanks guys. My car is 2004/81000 mile. I did try the reset procedure according to user manual but it didn't work. I didn't disconnect battery nor jump start the car. Does it have safety issue or just the TSC/DSC malfunction?

This sounds JUST like my problem. Have the dealer look at it. Neither TCS & DSC will function while the lights are on.

And If you have any doubt about whether the TCS is working, find an Icy or Sandy/Gravelly parking lot and try to spin the rear tires. Or just an empty parking lot if you don't mind chewing up some expensive rubber... Haha!
