If we're talking about the bumper/body paint not matching, then I agree, and it's a common problem on RX-8's. I've posted about it before, as have others. It seems to be a problem that particularly affects silver/titanium cars.....one of the reasons I went for the Winning Blue, actually.

Many manufacturers have difficulty with the match, as the bumpers are often painted in a separate plant at a different time. All you can do is live with it.

Gomez.

My winning blue bumper had to be repainted due to my idiot neighbor, and the thing that they made sure to point out to me at the bodyshop was that the back bumper on RX-8's is a tad lighter than the body paint. Winning Blue btw.

Really?! I have not noticed this on my sunlight silver, I'll have to check this out tomorrow. Considering I've hand washed my car so many times since I got it in September I'm surprised I wouldn't have noticed.

My titanium had some scratches in the rear bumper when I bought it - the dealership had a good local bodyshop put a new, freshly painted bumper on the car. It didn't match perfectly before, but matched even worse after. It's at this moment back at the body shop having it re-done - I will hopefully get the car back tomorrow night.

The paint just takes to the plastic different than it does to metal. Look closely at the difference between your front bumper and the fender. From the factory, it's a touch different in certain lights. Unfortunately for us, there's much more real estate matching up between the rear bumper and the rear quarter, so the difference is more noticable. Before we went thru the hassle of arranging the second trip to the body shop, we went and looked at four TI's on dealer lots - all of them have a noticable difference between the rear bumper and quarter.

Yours does look a bit *too* different. More different than mine, and I took mine back.

EDIT - Wicked looking picture, by the way! :D

The funny thing is it is just that side. The other side of the bumper matches perfectly. My aunt scratched the back of my car anyway so I will have a chance to get it repainted when she pays me.
