To buy, or not to buy, that is the ?
I have $1k down on an RX8. The dealership is going to get back to me on Tues. about the A/C problem the car has. With all the complaining about the lack of power in the car and various problems, would you go ahead w/ the purchase, or not buy the car at all??? BTW: The other car I've been looking at is a 350Z, which I can't see out the back window b/c I'm 6'4" and it wasn't designed for anyone tall...

well I'm just waiting on my color at a dealership in tustin since the one I was trying to get at first in calarmont was packed with a bunch of useless options. Although I'm a little disappointed I couldn't break the mfr price line and get it under at this new place.

Hehe... I KNOW you want the car. Why else would there be a $1k deposit down
Make them think you're thinking about changing yer mind... maybe if the RX-8 is a hard sale for your dealer... he may work the price down for you a tad bit more. Make them temporarily attach some salesmen/managers' lips to your keester for awhile. Bring up the concerns you have with the HP issues you've read so much about on the internet and ask them about the rebate/offer. You're past the cutoff point, but see if they can come closer to invoice than MSRP.
You're gonna LOVE this car.
Enjoy.

I already negotiated a very good price for this car (well under MSRP). I love the way the car handles (going around a 25 MPH turn doing 55 w/ no problems is SWEET!) I can actually see out the rear view (unlike the 350Z). I am past the Aug. 26 deadline for the buyback program if I decide that I don't want to deal w/ any of the problems the car might have. I guess the car still falls under the lemon laws if any of the other problems come up. The car is only going to be driven on the weekends. If it has to go to the shop for a couple days here and there, it's not as big of a deal, but it's still a pain in the butt! Some of the things I noticed on the car were the A/C cycling (like I said, they're supposed to get back to me on Tues) and the TPM light came on (car hadn't been driven since it arrived at the dealership, hopefully this won't be a continuous problem like others have mentioned).
