Buyback is ANYTHING BUT a sham

In contrast to Tomster's dissatisfaction with Mazda's buyback offer, I thought I'd start a thread for those of us that are entirely happy with the offer. I'll start:

I've just received, signed, and returned the buyback offer from Mazda (via Impartial Services Group). They will be cutting a check to the leasing company for the full payoff amount, plus another to my wife and me for the full amount of our down payment, plus the full amount of the lease payments we have made, plus the full purchase price of the two accessories I have bought and installed (MP3 player and aldehyde filter).

In other words, they're refunding every cent I've spent except for gas, oil changes and insurance. We're more than happy.

Mazda NA refunded my money, but it took two weeks from the day they received my signed release and my confirmation of the money owed to me under the buyback program. All Mazda had to do after receipt of my release was to send the check. While I got back all of my money from Mazda NA, the two weeks it took to get this transaction closed was entirely too long in my opinion. After all, It only took a couple of hours for Mazda to sell me the car.

i think that the people who did the buy back thing are dumb and retarted by being hurt by the loss of power (only about 8hp) and the time that is taking to get the milage higher, but watever 238hp is enough and u can get the simple 8hp back wit a cai

Now now with the names..

Alot of the peeps that are selling back their cars are not entirely upset about the HP. Some have determined that if they sell back their car, that they will be able to buy another at a lesser price. Others have run into financial situations. The remaining 50-70 percent have buyers remorse.

I think people who make sweeping generalisations without knowing all the facts are dumber.

If you'd kept up with the discussions here, you'd know that I've stated several times that I totally love this car. Under normal circumstances I'd be hanging on to it, but I have to reduce costs after being laid off last month, and the RX-8 buyback gives me a perfect opportunity to do just that. As soon as I land another job, I'll be lining up for another.

What a stupid statement.

Some of you US peeps have 5k+ miles onthe car already. Getting your purchace costs back in full on a several month old car is an amazing deal.

As far as I know there isnt any clause preventing you from going out and buying another new RX-8 is there? What an amazing deal.

EXACTLY! It's almost foolish to NOT take this offer. Think about it. That rock chip on the hood? GONE, that mileage on the car GONE! Want a different colour? NO PROBLEM!

It's almost a no brainer.

Since I'm in Canada I'd rather drive a beater in the winter. I was paying $850 a month, now I'm paying $0 and saving about $50 a month on insurance and probably $100 a month on gas.

That's $1000 a month! 8 months from now (may) I can get another with $8000 down and possibly get it cheaper to boot.

Incredible deal!

My dissatifaction with the buyback is well documented. Had I not installed window tinting and had I not traded in an expensive car I too would have been totally satisfied with the buyback. But I did and I did so I am out $2,050 as a result. It's a simple legal issue of being made whole and I've been told by a senior law partner who finished first in his class at Yale Law School that if I took them to court they would have to make me whole and pay for everything. By agreeing to Mazda's offer I am giving up that right to sue. So be it. It goes back tomorrow and I'll be satisfied with my $12,000 check.

I'm glad it worked out well for you Eccles and I hope you're able to secure a job here in Austin soon. I met you at the Rudy's function a while back enjoyed our conversation.

Not fair, and whats the point.

Everyone knows ECCLES supports and likes the car.

The buyback is a real sweet deal if you paid msrp

I thought about it myself, but only would have saved about 800 miles, not worth it for a car I love driving. Plus I spent a weekend putting on zaino! I do not want to do that again.

Flame suit? I think some of us need to get tarred and rolled in asbestos!

That almost was reason enough for me to hold onto the car......I hate the thought of Zainoing the next one! Oh well, at least it won't be 103 degrees outside the next time I Zaino.
